...

"Nazi go home! Nazi go home!" a woman led a crowd into chanting at me as I was cornered against a barrier. A line of police officers stood watching a few feet away. Aiming a bullhorn at my face, the woman continued screaming while others pushed me.

Why did I receive this welcome in downtown Seattle? Because I dared to take a camera into an Antifa protest.

Last Saturday, around 150 left-wing activists mobilized outside Seattle City Hall to counter a similarly-sized event organized by the Washington State Three Percent, a conservative group that describes itself as constitutionalist. The counter-protest brought together a coalition of socialists, communists, and anarchists. They call themselves "Antifa," or anti-fascist, in spite of their thuggish street behavior often directed at the innocent public. Some of them were dressed in black and wore masks, a tactic called "black bloc" designed to make it easier to remain anonymous while engaging in criminal activity.

Oh antifa you silly terrorists you...

UN fails to adopt US resolution condemning Hamas terrorism

Due to a procedural maneuver that required a two-thirds majority, the UN did not pass a resolution to condemn Hamas for firing rockets into civilian areas in Israel.

But the good news is that a plurality voted for the measure. That's progress from an organization that has been very anti-Semitic. I give kudos to Nikki Haley for pushing these issues to the forefront. The UN must be challenged in its hypocritical stance. Had this same measure been about condemning Israel, it would have passed. Trump is right to call out Antisemitism.

Yea because the UN allows muslim shitholes to be on the UN for some reason

@decaf_wizard:

what is a muslim shithole?

Most muslim countries in the middle east really, from what I understand. Horrific human rights abuses, anti-semitism and racism out the wazoo and bare minimum religious freedom. I have spoken to some people that even live in UAE, one of the best muslim countries many of those categories (although they basically commit outright slavery) and they still said its not a particularly good place to live.

@spareheadone: One of the favorite tactics of muslim extremist groups like boko haram involves targeting children with landmines.

So i'm going to require some serious citation on the whole islam makes most people happy thing.

But if the children and in fact all of us were part of boko haram then no one would be getting blown up.

I may try and build a case for this.

I was initially just referring to Islam currently being the world's most populated religion.

Im thinking it pertains to the concept of separation of powers.

If the congress legistlate a law that can have them supersede or suspend the executive branch constitutional authority over it's own jurisdiction and members, then it can precipitate a constitutional crisis.

Thanks for the information. I guess that would need to be weighed against the conflict of interest of a president being able to interfere with an active investigation into himself and his campaign. I could very well be missing a lot of the picture though as the American constitution is definitely not my forte.

It's hard to keep track of all the corruption and illegality coming from this administration. Hopefully Mueller and the FBI are on top of it. Certainly this new story should play a role in the law suit against Trump for violating the Emoluments clause.

Apparently soon after the election, Saudi Arabia funneled $270,000 to Trump through lobbyists booking hundreds of rooms at his Washington hotel. We later saw the benefit they get from this, with Trump refusing to accept the intel from US agencies and defending the Saudi prince, even though the evidence seems clear that he's responsible for killing journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Trump has pretty much made it a habit of siding with tyrants and murderers, calling our own intelligence agencies liars and even comparing them to Nazis. Well... Trump knows very well who lines his pockets.

@willpayton: Query: If the Saudi's cut off the supply of oil to the U.S. what implications would that have to the base infrastructure of our country?

Query: If America is willing to ignore genocide in favor of a strategic alley that supplies us with a heck of a lot less oil then the saudi's then why would you believe that trump excusing the death of a single journalist to have crossed the line?

Query: If your dream comes to pass and you impeach trump... Would Mike Pence be a better president?

I apologize if my comment came off as brash. I didn't mean it that way. mimisalone was right about the separation of powers aspect. special counsel is hired by the executive branch. it reports to the executive branch. legislative branch has no right to make such a push. if they did, it creates a problem if a special counsel was hired by the executive but the Senate was on the opposing party then if special counsel finished their investigation but did not suit the outcome of the legislative than technically they could keep special counsel on onto they find something - making them totally autonomous with no real check and balance in place if the person that hired special counsel couldn't fire special counsel.

Also, Jeff Flake's approval numbers in deep purple Arizona is at 18%.

Im not will but...

the Saudi situation technically becomes a straw man argument when one views its eventual outcome. Every knows that the cut off of oil would tank America much like it did during the Carter years. Though I believe we handled the Kishoggi situation badly, Adam Schiff pretty much has said the same thing as Trump its just that Trump isn't as good as articulating his words as the Dems.

We shouldn't make the line of evaluation between two different countries. American centrism is what the west is often hated for anyways. What Iran does should not reflect what Saudi does. Though Iran has done its naughty, so has Saudi

Pence doesn't have the political clout to be a better President. He wouldn't tweet, so if your are a moderate right person than the policy continues but no tweeting, so it is a dream scenario

@willpayton a scenario has becoming more stronger with me that the Senate wouldn't blindly protect Trump from impeachment now. I think they want Nikki Haley even though she denies the claim.

DNC Chairman Complains About Voters Influenced By Their Faith

The DNC chairman is complaining that the DNC can't get any ground in the heartland because those people have faith. He even goes so far as to suggest that the only "moral" issue that matters to people of faith is abortion. Now, I have spoken out about how we should not kill innocent black babies a lot on this site. I know that wp would say that unwanted unborn black babies are worthless and the world is better off without them, but I just think that we should protect rather than kill innocent unborn black babies. A lot of people of faith would agree with. But people of faith would agree with a lot of other things that I think are moral issues:

1) I think it is immoral the way Democrats try to keep black children out of successful private schools by opposing school vouchers. It is immoral to chain a child to a failing government school when a successful private one is nearby and costs less.

2) I think it is immoral to rape underage Latino children or to help those who sell them as sex slaves, but lots of Democrats oppose ICE which captures hundreds of human traffickers a year. They want sanctuary cities that won't work with ICE to remove people who will sell them a cute little Latino boy for the afternoon. I think this is immoral.

3) I think it is immoral to support anti-Semitic policies like we see at the UN and by many college liberals. But many Democrats support the racist BDS movement which targets only the Jewish country. Never-mind that it is the one country in the region with religious freedom and won't kill you for being gay, it alone is the target of many liberal's irrational hatred.

4) I think it is morally wrong to discriminate against someone because of their ethnicity. But Democrats often want just that. They want Asian students discriminated against in college admissions, they want white people, men especially, discriminated against in employment hiring, awarding grants, and in the giving out of federal set-aside contracts. Racism is wrong. Democrats argue that their racism is good racism. But the truth is there is no good racism.

5) I believe it is morally wrong to impose policies, like minimum wage policies, that result in the least skilled being unemployable or having their hours cut back as has happened in Seattle and Washington DC.

6) I think it is morally wrong to put over a million people out of work, lose 2 trillion in GDP, and take 25% of the poorest people's in America take home pay away to pay for the Paris Climate agreement as many liberals have said. The Clean Power Plan (Obama's commitment to the Paris Climate agreement) would have done that. And for what? According to the then Director of the EPA, a temperature change of ....... wait for it ...... .001 degree Celsius. Such a small change that we don't have the instrumentation to even measure if all the trillions spent would have worked. But the poor would certainly feel 25% of their paycheck missing from higher gas, electric, food and higher everything else.

7) I think it is immoral to harass a person because of her faith. But a lot of liberals think it is OK. For instance the baker who refused to make the wedding cake for a gay couple. The Supreme Court said that he had been targeted for his faith, and they were right. People should not be forced to participate in the celebration of a religious event (a wedding) that goes against their religious beliefs. Unfortunately, some liberals feel that they can impose their beliefs upon others, without respecting beliefs that differ from theirs.

There are many moral reasons why a person of faith, and those with no faith, don't support the Democrat party. To be honest, its pretty much most things I disagree with the DNC about.

The Daily Agreement: Day 11

Everyday @xzone and I will come together to find something that he, a conservative, and myself, a liberal, can both really agree on. In such polarizing times we thought this would be a fantastic idea. Some topics will be longer and more in depth, and some will be shorter. If you wish to be tagged for these daily agreements, just let @xzone or myself know.

Topic of the Day: George HW Bush was a true American Hero

George HW Bush may not have been a perfect president, but he was damn great American.

Not only was he a hero during World War II, but as a president, he was always a patriot who I believe really loved our country. As president, he led a successful offensive in Kuwait to drive out Sadam Hussein's army, signed the Americans with Disabilities Act into law, and finalized the end of the Cold War.

Also, he went skydiving on this 90th birthday. Not really a political accomplishment, but something worth mentioning nonetheless.

Loading Video...

Rest in peace George HW Bush.

Anything that tackles private money influencing politics, lobbyists, and corruption in general is welcome. But, I'm sure they will f***k it up. I just have little confidence that the current system in Washington is up to the task of passing meaningful and intelligent legislation on anything as complex as money/corruption, especially given that those parties that have the most to lose are the ones lining the pockets of the politicians passing the laws.
