Anyone wanna talk about the new awesome show?
OK K.O.! Let's Be Heroes fan thread
I've never seen it. Is it any good? It looks a little like the Steven's Universe art style. Or maybe Foster's Home. Is it by either of them? Who created this show? What's it about?

The series takes place in the futuristic year of 201X. The show's main character, K.O., a 6-11 years old boy who wants to become a hero and gets a job in Gar's Bodega (run by his idol Mr. Gar), a hero supply shop in the Lakewood Plaza strip mall. He becomes best friends with his co-workers Radicles(an apathetic, narcissistic alien) and Enid (a levelheaded big sister-like ninja) and together, thye run the store as well as protecting it from being destroyed by robots.
The series was created by Ian Jones-Quartey (who you probably known for his work on Adventure Tim and Steven Universe). It's a ton of fun:) Here are two shorts:
I never knew I wanted anything to cross over with Captain planet, but now I can't wait.
Me too. Just sad that Ma-Ti won't be in it.
I love it
You seen "Rad Likes Robots"?
@waezi2: not yet, although I wil today
@battle123axe: You have something to look forward to. It was much better than I expected.

good to know
I thought i was the only one who watch this show
I know the feeling, dude.
You have a favorite episode?
@waezi2: I only watch it with my little bro so I don't feel 100% gulty loll
My fav episode so far is When they went to mister Garr secret office and screw up
@beyonder97: Mine too. Though the one where Carol tries to teach KO how to solve a conflict with words(and ends up being a bad example) is a close second.
Because who doesn't love giant lizards?

You guys wanna vote in the OK KO popularity contest?
https://comicvine.gamespot.com/forums/off-topic-5/ok-ko-popularity-contest-1902289/#6
@waezi2: yeah.
(unrelated, but i personally love the TKO episode)
@battle123axe: Oh, that one was AWESOME! I wonder what the explanation will be for KO's anger powers.
@battle123axe: Oh, that one was AWESOME! I wonder what the explanation will be for KO's anger powers.
yeah, and i also kinda wonder who KO's father is
@battle123axe: Oh, that one was AWESOME! I wonder what the explanation will be for KO's anger powers.
yeah, and i also kinda wonder who KO's father is
It might be Mister Garr
@battle123axe: Oh, that one was AWESOME! I wonder what the explanation will be for KO's anger powers.

It might be Mister Garr
it might be, but that sounds too obvious
@battle123axe: we never know
@battle123axe: we never know
maybe
@beyonder97: @battle123axe: Well, I think the show has implied that whoever KO's dad is, it's NOT Mr Gar.
In the episode "My Dad Can Beat Up Your Dad" Carol told KO that he "did have a dad" and that he "was a great man," so I guess he is dead?
Also... Gar is a wreck whenever he is around Carol and he has only recently declared his love to her in the TKO episode (and she already knew, but no surprise there:P). So how the heck could they have a baby?
... yeah, I'm a dork.
But hey, if Gar plays his cards right, he could BECOME KO's dad:P
@waezi2: Well maybe KO'S dad turned evil considering KO'S strange power
They might pull a Dath Vader!
@beyonder97: One way or another, Professor Venomous is somehow involved.
He might eve be his da... NA!
@waezi2: fair points
Don't worry, we're all dorks here lol

Hey guys, I just realized that "Rad Likes Robots" might be the most unique OK KO episode so far, and here's why:
It’s Romeo and Juliet for kids.
DONE RIGHT FOR A CHANGE!
Rad and Shannon falls in love, despite the fact that they are from different worlds that doesn’t match up at all. Also, they practically don’t know each other.
Sounds familiar?
That’s one of the key elements in the Romeo and Juliet tale: their love is rushed and is impractical. But they still take their love serious and are prepared to make the effort necessary to make their relationship work.
OK KO is a humorous show, so I expected the writers to take the Star-Crossed Lovers trope and make fun of it, turn it upside down. Instead, I got to see a rather interesting retelling of one of Shakespeare’s most famous plays.
The story about two young lovers who has fate against them has been done countless times in animated shows for kids. But they usually have happy endings where our lovers end up together, or there is at least a silver lining of some sort, reminding us that it’s not all bad.
But not in “Rad Likes Robots.”
The ending of the episode is surprisingly fateful to the original source with it’s own twist. Shannon fakes her rebooting so that she and Rad can stay together(Juliet’s fake suicide), but it backfires completely, since Rad tries to “kill” his sorrow by declaring that Shannon was a “stinkin’ hunk of junk”(Romeo kills himself). That breaks poor Shannon’s heart, making her reboot for real in order to kill her feelings for Rad, thereby ending her pain(Juliet ends her life, knowing that Romeo is dead).
So… where is the silver lining? This is a kids show, so there gotta be one, right?
RIGHT?!?!
… No.
There is no bright side. There is no comfort. There’s just…sadness and pain.
Sure, one would think that Shannon was the fortunate one, as she could reboot to a well-working robot body that feels nothing for Rad. But here is the thing: As soon as she woke up in her new body, she instantly went to the plaza and attacked Rad mercilessly, demanding that he fought back. Seems like her robot brothers were wrong. Sure, she isn’t sad anymore, but she is still angry, possibly in pain and unsure why. Heck, Raymond and Darrell looks a bit worried when Shannon attacks Rad, knowing that something is wrong and that she is a bit TOO passionate about making Rad fight her so that everything can go back to normal. It’s a tragic ending, no matter how you look at it.
:(
@waezi2: holy crap that's good
@battle123axe: the analysis or the episode?
@juiceboks:You should see her mom
@waezi2:Nice analysis. Still have yet to watch the ep.
@waezi2: both
@waezi2: I didn't catch that at first but yeah I can see the parallel, that's a pretty rough ending .
@bella_blackstar: I'm surprised that CN's board of executives weren't all "Ian, dude. We allow a lot of stuff, but... don't you think this episode is a bit too much?"
I'M unsure if this episode is a bit too much! Sure, as an adult, I can appreciate the rough ending and effort, but what about the kids?
@waezi2: AT has had way darker episodes to be honest.
@bella_blackstar: Sure, but there were usually a silver lining of some sort. "Rad Likes Robots" has a genuinely tragic ending where nothing positively can be said.
... Well, AT "I Remember You" is close. Still remember watching that one for the first time, DANG!
@waezi2: I'm talking Lemon no hope levels, like the fat Lemongrab ate the other one and the ending is just him dying of old age, You can interpret that as good as he lead a long life, but still, he just dies and that's our ending .
@bella_blackstar: Holy crab, either I forgot about that one, or I haven't watched it!
@bella_blackstar: @righteous300: @battle123axe: @beyonder97: @jaycool2:
Hey guys, two things:
A) if it annoys you that I tag you for OK KO stuff, please tell me.
B) Holy crab, we are gonna get an episode about when Carol joined P.O.I.N.T.!
@waezi2: I don't mind you tagging me
The problem is that i haven't watched KO's episodes in a while because of college
@waezi2: I'm cool with the tags.
and I would love to see an episode about that.
@waezi2: yeah that looks pret great
The amazing world of gum all can get ridiculously dark sometimes
@bella_blackstar: @righteous300: @battle123axe: @beyonder97: @jaycool2:
KO's real name has been revealed. It's:
KAIO KINCAID
@waezi2: *whistles in appreciation
I really like it! Way better that TTG (no offense to those who actually like that show). It has some good action and comedy. K.O. does have that spikey-haired Naruto attitude ("I want to be the best hero ever!!") but he makes it work. Enid and Carol are pretty awesome characters and they have some great skills too.
The video game references are really spot-on, especially that one episode where there was a Cloud Strife look-a-like. And yeah, Captain Planet in that show really brings back memories. Hopefully we'll get more appearances from classic cartoon heroes like Space Ghost, Birdman, etc.
