more Americanized( I just can't get into the hardcore japanese ones).
Americanized... That makes it harder to be honest, I don't know what counts as Americanized these days... Is FMA Americanized?
Well, I'll try. An Americanized Seinen Anime. I'll give you a few lines about it, maybe that'll help you judge it for yourself.
- Gantz: At the moment when they "die", two teenagers get teleported into a room where they're subsequently sent to fight all kinds of Monsters. They get suits, guns, whole Sci-Fi shebang. Its one-of-a-kind and really its Gory and Bloody. The Anime is subpar when compared to the Manga though.
- IGPX: This isn't really bloody, gory or anything of the sort. I don't recommend it to you at all, but I'm mentioning it because its what I see as maybe the definition of Americanized Anime, lol. But yeah, its about a "sport" in the future in which mechs run across a track while fighting each other. Its Shonen though, so like I said, no blood/gore.
- Hellsing: Just watch it, its what you're looking for.
- Afro Samurai: Also seems to be in the same vein of what you're looking for.
- FMA: Is Americanized, but its not Seinen, its a Shonen. That means its goint to be missing in the blood department. (I keep going back to blood and gore because you seem to have highlighted it).
- Blade of the Immortal: Don't know how the anime fairs against the manga from firsthand experience. That said, I've heard its not as good.
Really, the best manner to go about this would be for you to define what you see as really "Japanese" and dislike. From what I've gathered -- to me -- it seems that you're referring to Shonen (and Shojo of course) Manga/Anime as what you dislike (generically that is) and seem to be looking for Seinen which have a less stylized art style (which could end up looking as "more western" to someone who's not used to Manga -- that's what I'm basing this off).
If you want to reply or PM me with some feedback then we can talk about exactly what it is you want.
P.S. If you end up watching any of those, make sure you watch Hellsing OVA and FMA: Brotherhood Anime first, before their counterparts.
