Nintendo's Wii U: What made it fail?

This Nintendo console got so much hate and was not seen as a very good one. Did it have something to do with the clunky hardware and multible controllers to recharge?. It feels like its underrated these days ever sinse the Nintendo Switch got released.

it had bad motion controls and bad games on it.

A mixture between the lack of games, unwieldy controller which turned 3rd parties away, and the name of the console making parents thinking it was a peripheral for the Wii instead of it's own beast, plus some other stuff which probably slipped my mind atm.

Honestly i would say the name was the biggest issue. It just looked like a premium version of the wii and not an original console. I'm sure the normies prob thought the same thing and didn't see a reason to make the jump if they already had a wii.
