I made this paper mache replica earlier this year - it was my first real attempt at paper mache so I know it isn't super amazing, but I quite like it. I wanted to share it with you all. Comments are appreciated! I will also be posting a few of my fan-art painting in later blogs.

Thank you! My paper mache skills were almost non-existant before. For such a child-level craftt, paper mache sure is difficult.
lol, yes I am sure. The only part that isn't paper mache is the leather looking bit in the middle - its some weird fabric that I found in a discount bin.
Wow, woah, what the? Thats flippen amazing! Paper mache? No, no you lie, impossible, it looks way to study and solid and textural! No way lol Amazing job! Post more fan art and paper mache creations please *smile* Anyway lol, thats great. Oh man, I am so lucky I don't have your skills, otherwise I would never leave home and I would have a house full of Final Fantasy weapons! *grin*
@SC: I'm glad you like it. IT was kind of difficult to make, and it's slightly larger than the scythe prop used in the show. It also has a gloss on it now, because some of the paint started to chip. I Also made Vera, Jayne's gun from Firefly / Serenity - I think I posted it in my photos, not sure. I don't do that much arts and crafts anymore, I am much too impatient. It's a good hobby though, if you have a ton of free time.
@jeanlucpicard: lol, nope.
@Billy Batson: Thank you!!
@Renee: Thanks hon =D I really wanted a replica, but they are so darn expensive so I decided to make one.
I know what you mean about time. I tried making the Pont du Gard out of paper mache but well, I sucked, and impatient, so I ended up using cardboard lol *shrugs*
Using cardboard for the base of paper mache is always a good idea, especially if you are making a weapon or a stand alone object. I used some so I could get the shape right. I'm sure you're project turned out well either way.
