The world could always use more Heroes.

And Villains.

...And Third Parties.

It's back! Welcome to Mafia: Overwatch Edition!

Here's how it works:

There are three types of players: Heroes, Villains, and Third Parties. The Heroes have to kill all the Villains, the Villains have to kill all the Heroes, and the Third Parties have to fulfill their specific win requirements.

The Villains are all in a PM together, and every night one of them will be selected to kill a player. In the morning, all players will vote on another person to kill. This is how Heroes eliminate Villains.

Each player will receive at random a role (in the form of a character) with a special ability that they can use each night. These abilities are what make the game interesting! The roles are normally secret, and it is up to the player's discretion to reveal them or not.

If you've ever played Town of Salem it's pretty much that.

Rules:

- If you sign up, you must play. If you are gone for too long without PMing me, being active in the thread, or being active at all, you will be automatically eliminated. This also means you cannot quit the game because you don't like the role you got, etc. DO NOT SIGN UP IF YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO PLAY WITH WHATEVER ROLE YOU GET.

- No posting screenshots to prove your roles, or for any other purpose. It breaks the game- and makes it less fun!

- As a Villain, no revealing your fellow teammates without a unanimous agreement in the PM.

- If you die, you may not talk game-play with any remaining players, WHATSOEVER.

- No PMing other players, making secret pacts, revealing your roles in private, etc. This is all considered cheating and is not tolerated (it also ruins the game for everyone)!

- Villains that died may not continue to strategize in the group PM unless they are revived.

- If you vote for lynching, make it very, very clear. Write it in huge bold font by your post. The same goes for no-voting. THIS RULE WILL BE ENFORCED! IF YOU DO NOT BOLD YOUR POST, EXPECT YOUR VOTE TO BE IGNORED!

- If you know or believe that someone cheated, send me a PM about it. Avoid accusing each other on the game thread.

-Do not make personal attacks on other players, and do not be hostile towards one another! Realize that lying and deceit are part of the game, and we're all here to have fun. Playful jabs are okay, but if you are too harsh or hostile I will not hesitate to give you the boot.

-IF YOU DON'T THINK YOU CAN FOLLOW ONE OR MORE OF THESE RULES, DO NOT SIGN UP!

Roles- Heroes:

Tracer:

No Caption Provided

Lena Oxton, AKA Tracer, agent of Overwatch.

Once a renowned pilot, Tracer was selected for an experimental flight program to test a prototype teleporting fighter: the Slipstream. A tragic malfunction on board ripped Tracer from the timestream, leaving Tracer phasing in and out of reality with no apparent escape. The scientist called Winston eventually developed the Chronal Accelerator in order to keep Tracer tethered to time, and she has used its unique capabilities to fight on Overwatch's behalf ever since.

Abilities:

Active - Blink: At night, Tracer can Blink forward in time and swap the positions of two players, switching all the targeting on one so that it affects the other instead. This ability has top priority over all others. One night recharge. 10% charge for a successful swap.

Active - Recall: At night, Tracer can use Recall to learn the names of every player that has interacted with her since the ability's last usage (in no specific order). Two night recharge. 10% charge for every player investigated.

Passive - Slipstream: If Blink is not used at night, all kill attempts on Tracer that night will fail. This ability does not count as kill protection for the purposes of other players abilities, and thus cannot fail. However, if this passive ability is activated, it will become inactive for the following two nights. 33% charge if this passive ability is activated.

Ultimate - Pulse Bomb: At night, Tracer can drop her Pulse Bomb on one player, draining 75% of their Ultimate charge.

Soldier 76:

No Caption Provided

Jack Morrison, AKA Soldier 76, founding member of Overwatch.

Jack fought in the Omnic Crisis at a young age, where his courage and drive impressed many colleagues in the military. He was among many selected for a government super-soldier program, where his physical attributes were enhanced to enable him to lead the charge against the omnics. Jack was selected alongside a comrade and close friend, Gabriel Reyes, to head the burgeoning task force called Overwatch, and while Reyes would initially be tasked to lead the group, it was Morrison that would make them into the incredible force for peace they would turn out to be. Years later, Jack has taken up the alias of Soldier 76, fighting a new war with old soldiers, long after Overwatch's initial downfall.

Abilities:

Passive - Old Soldier: Soldier 76's vote counts for 5 during the daily lynch. 25% charge if the lynch vote passes against Soldier 76's target.

Active - Pulse Rifle: At night, Soldier 76 can lay down covering fire for one player, preventing any actions from being taken against them except for kill attempts. No recharge time. 10% charge for every action suppressed against a player.

McCree:

No Caption Provided

Jesse McCree, agent of Overwatch and former agent of Blackwatch.

Appropriately, Jesse McCree was a notorious outlaw in his youth, part of the Deadlock gang that trafficked weapons in the American Southwest. After an Overwatch sting, McCree was recruited into the covert ops division of Overwatch, called Blackwatch, by its leader, Gabriel Reyes. After years of clandestine work, McCree left Blackwatch to get away from its infighting and scheming, taking work as a gunslinger and hoping to right the wrongs of his youth by fighting for just causes.

Abilities:

Active - Flashbang: At night, McCree can toss a flashbang at a player of his choice, disabling them from using their active ability or Ultimate. No recharge time. 25% charge if an ability is successfully disabled.

Active - Fan the Hammer: At night, McCree can unload his peacekeeper onto a player of his choice to kill them. The reckless shooting will result in a 50% chance of success for the kill, but if the player was hit with his flashbang the night before, the kill will be guaranteed not to miss (though it can still be blocked and redirected). Two night recharge. 50% charge on successful hit.

Ultimate - Deadeye: At night, McCree can use Deadeye for a kill with a 100% success rate, which cannot be blocked or redirected. However, if this move is used on a hero, they will not be killed, and instead Deadeye will serve as an investigation. If this ability is used on a Hero, 50% of the Ultimate charge is restored after usage.

Ana:

No Caption Provided

Ana Amari, founding member of Overwatch.

In her heyday, Ana was widely considered to be one of the greatest snipers on Earth, and was a natural fit for the burgeoning Overwatch task force. For years, Ana battled on Overwatch's behalf, remaining steadfast even as internal tensions rose with Blackwatch, and she worked to pass on her heroic values to her daughter, the young Pharah. Ana's final mission culminated in a face-off with the sniper called Widowmaker, whom she recognized as Amélie, the wife of the late Gerard Lacroix. This realization culminated in a single moment of hesitation, enough time for her to take a hit and lose an eye. Though she survived the encounter (unbeknownst to most), the trauma caused Ana to reevaluate her life spent in combat, and she has since developed into a medical asset on the battlefield.

Abilities:

Active - Cybernetic Eye: At night, Ana can investigate one player and learn their identity. One night recharge. 20% charge for successful investigation.

Active - Biotic Rifle: At night, Ana can target one player that she has already learned the identity of through her first active (she cannot target any other players with this ability). Two night recharge. 20% charge for a succecessful disable. 33% charge if a kill is successfully protected against.

Active - Sleep Dart: At night, Ana can tag one player with a sleep dart, disabling them from using their active ability or Ultimate for both the current night and following night. If an ability or Ultimate was used that night, recharge will still be applied and Ultimate charge will still be drained. However, the disable is immediately removed if anyone interacts with them. Three night recharge. 20% charge for each night the target sleeps through, plus 20% charge if an Ultimate is successfully wasted.

Ultimate - Nano Boost: At night, Ana can activate her Nano Boost on one player, completely filling their Ultimate charge.

Genji:

No Caption Provided

Genji Shimada, agent of Overwatch, former agent of Blackwatch, and former member of the Shimada clan.

Holding the nickname of Sparrow in his rowdy childhood, the ninja Genji frustrated the members of his clan in his refusal to take an active role carrying on his father's criminal enterprise. These frustrations culminated in an assassination attempt, and Genji was nearly killed in an attack by his older brother, Hanzo. Medical intervention by Overwatch saved his life, but also left him a half-machine in the process, and the disillusioned Genji struggled with a sense of purpose and identity as he took up arms for the clandestine Blackwatch. Under the tutelage of his master, Zenyatta, Genji now searches for inner peace as he battles for the organization he owes his life to.

Ultimate - Dragonblade: At night, Genji can activate his Dragonblade for use the following day. If the Dragonblade was activated the night prior, Genji can use the Dragonblade at any time during the day to immediately kill any player that has a minimum of 2 lynch votes. This kill replaces the daily lynch for that day.

Ultimate - Barrage: At night, Pharah can unleash a Barrage on the enemy team, threatening every Villain and Third Party with a 20% chance of being killed. No more than two Villains can be killed with this ability, however, and no more than one if the Villain team is at four players or less.

Zarya:

No Caption Provided

Aleksandra Zaryanova, AKA Zarya, member of the Russian Defense Forces.

Zarya is a legendary athlete and one of the world's strongest women, born in a remote village that was once on the front lines of the Omnic Crisis. (If too few Heroes/Villains/Third Parties are available, the number of players sucked into the vortex will simply be reduced accordingly).

Mei:

No Caption Provided

As a climatologist, Mei spent her life studying unique environmental phenomena in the hopes of helping to preserve the world for future generations. After being stranded at an Antarctic base, lack of supplies led to Mei being forced to enter cryo-sleep along with the rest of her crew in the hopes of being rescued. Nine years passed in the interim, and Mei was the only one to return alive, forced to escape from the facility using climate-manipulation technology that she developed herself. Now in a changed world from the one she remembers, Mei fights on behalf of Overwatch, harboring the same lofty ideals she always has.

No Caption Provided

Moira O'Deorain, former agent of Blackwatch and agent of Talon.

O'Deorain is a cutting-edge geneticist that believes that scientific progress should not be stifled by fear or naiveté. Her early research led to great dissent in the scientific community, which largely condemned her for unethical practices. Overwatch's Blackwatch division, though- ethically questionable itself- was quick to take interest in her medical advancements and recruited her, providing her with the materials to make great strides in genetic technology. Two night recharge. 20% charge if an ability is successfully disabled, plus 10% charge for a successful investigation.

Ultimate - Dragonstrike: At night, Hanzo can use Dragonstrike to disable five players simultaneously from using their active ability or Ultimate.

Junkrat:

No Caption Provided

Jamison Fawkes, AKA Junkrat, former member of the Junkers.

In the aftermath of a disaster, the irradiated wasteland of the Australian Outback quickly became a breeding ground for outlaws, thieves and cutthroats, and Fawkes was among the most deranged of them. Managing to make an enemy of nearly every important person among the Junkers, Junkrat finally found an ally in the form of Roadhog, whom he took on as a bodyguard in exchange for half the profits of his explosive heists. With no home left for them in Australia, the pair eventually took off on a global crime spree, becoming notorious wanted criminals all over the world.

Abilities:

Active - Frag Launcher: At night, Junkrat can wildly fire explosive rounds from his Frag Launcher, giving every non-Villain player a 5% chance of being killed. No more than one player can be killed per use of this ability. One night recharge. 25% charge for a successful kill.

Active - Steel Trap: At night, Junkrat can lay down a steel trap in front of one player, causing all other players' interactions with them to fail, and disabling any players that interacted with them on the following night. One night recharge. 10% charge for every interaction nullified with this ability.

Bonus - Concussion Mine: At night, Junkrat can supplement his Steel Trap with a Concussion Mine, killing one random player caught in the trap that night. Two night recharge. 10% charge for a successful kill.

Ultimate - Rip-Tire: At night, Junkrat can activate his Rip-Tire and blast one player to smithereens, not only killing them, but also killing any other players that interacted with them.

Roadhog:

No Caption Provided

Mako Rutledge, AKA Roadhog, former member of the Junkers.

Roadhog is the bodyguard and better half of Junkrat, not to mention a ruthless killer. Among the many to rise up to protect their homes in the aftermath of the Omnic Crisis, Roadhog quickly discovered that violence was the new law of the land in the Outback, and took to the new life quickly and easily. Before partnering with Junkrat, Roadhog managed to live in relative safety despite his numerous enemies, and he did it by being the toughest and scariest outlaw of the bunch.

Abilities:

Active - Chain Hook: At night, Roadhog can hook one player and twist them around, redirecting their active ability or Ultimate (whatever ability they used that night) at one player of Roadhog's choice. One night recharge. 25% charge if an ability is successfully used on the targeted player.

Active- Take a Breather: At night, Roadhog can charge 33% of his Ultimate at no other cost. Two night recharge.

Ultimate - Whole Hog: At night, Roadhog can punish one player with Whole Hog, disabling them from using their active ability or Ultimate and draining their entire Ultimate charge. However, kill protection attempts will block this ability as well.

Sombra:

No Caption Provided

Olivia Colomar, AKA Sombra, agent of Talon and former member of Los Muertos.

Sombra made a life for herself in the aftermath of the Omnic Crisis by taking up with the Mexican gang Los Muertos, participating in something of a revolution against the government. An expert hacker and cryptographer, Sombra quickly discovered that the key to power lay in holding information and withholding it from others, and would eventually take up her signature alias to rise to power in complete anonymity. To Sombra, Talon is simply another resource in her personal arsenal.

Abilities:

Active - Hack: At night, Sombra can target three players of her choice, causing their identity to be concealed if they are investigated- Heroes appear as random Villains or Third Parties, Villains appear as random Heroes or Third Parties, and Third Parties appear as random Heroes or Villains. The targets of this ability will not be disclosed in th edaily report, only that the ability was used. One night recharge. 20% charge if an investigation is successfully sabotaged.

Bonus - Infiltration: At night, Sombra can use Infiltration on the same night to target three players, making them unable to vote on the following day. Two-night recharge. 10% charge if this ability is successfully used.

Passive - Stealth: Sombra will automatically appear as a random Hero or Third Party character when investigated. 30% charge if Sombra is investigated & this ability comes into play.

Ultimate - EMP: At night, Sombra can activate her EMP and disable the Ultimates (not active abilities) of all non-villains (their Ultimates will simply not be used if they were selected). Furthermore, all non-villains without a fully-charged Ultimate will have their charge drained by 10%.

Roles- Third Parties:

Symmetra:

No Caption Provided

Satya Vaswani, AKA Symmetra, member of the Vishkar Corporation.

The India-based Vishkar Corporation took it upon themselves to repair its nation's infrastructure after the heavy toll of the Omnic Crisis, and its Architech engineers and their hard-light constructs were at the forefront of this process. Satya Vaswani was one of many inducted into the Architech program, but quickly outshone her peers with a unique approach to hard-light construction, based on the traditional dance of her homeland. Dubbing her "Symmetra", the Vishkar Corporation quickly moved to take advantage of her talents, putting Symmetra to work upholding their interests and expanding the corporation's influence worldwide.

Abilities:

Win Condition - Order is Restored: Symmetra's only goal is maintaining order among all the combatants, preserving the life cycle. In order to win, Symmetra must use her Ultimate at least three times over the course of the game.

Active - Photon Projector: At night, Symmetra can target one player with her Photon Projector. That player will be linked to any other player that interacted with them, or that they interacted with. Symmetra's ultimate is charged based on the number of linked players. No recharge time. 10% charge for every player linked with the Photon Projector.

Bonus - Photon Barrier: At night, Symmetra can deploy her mobile Photon Barrier to protect one player from kill attempts. Every player that interacts with the protected player will also receive kill protection. One night recharge. 20% charge for every blocked kill (charge is still gained even if the protection is broken through).

Ultimate - Teleporter: At night, Symmetra can deploy her teleporter and revive one randomly selected player. The revived player will be a Hero or Third Party unless the Villain team is at a third or less of the Heroes, in which case a Villain will be revived.

D.Va:

No Caption Provided

Hana Song, AKA D.Va, member of the South Korean Mobile Exo-Force.

A former professional Starcraft player, the South Korean government brilliantly recognized her unique potential and inducted her into the MEKA military unit to combat the omnics and defend her homeland. Hana is an A-list celebrity and has a tendency to irk her fellows-in-arms with her cheerful and flippant attitude, in part because she regularly livestreams wartime bloodshed to an adoring audience of millions (yes, this is actually the lore). She also moonlights as an actress, presumably in the off-season.

Abilities:

Win Condition - High Score: D.Va earns unique points for using her abilities. Her only end goal is to finish the game with 100 points or more. High score! ^^

Active - Fusion Cannons: At night, D.Va can harrass a player with her Fusion Cannons to deal sustained damage. No effect on the first night, but if a player is successfully targeted with this ability two nights in a row, they will be killed. Kill protection will prevent this ability regardless of how many times in a row it has been used. No recharge time. 15% charge on a successful usage. Earns 5 points on a first strike and 30 points on a successful kill!

Active - Micro Missiles: At night, D.Va can deploy a barrage of missiles to harrass one player, disabling them from using their active ability or Ultimate. One night recharge. 25% charge on successful disable. Earns 10 points on success!

Active - Defense Matrix: At night, D.Va can deploy a defensive shield array over one player, protecting them from kill attempts. One night recharge. 33% charge on successful protection. Earns 20 points on success!

Passive - Eject: When D.Va is killed while in her mech, she will eject, changing her active ability and Ultimate but surviving. (D.Va's Ultimate charge will remain the same even though her Ultimate changes.)

Active - Light Gun: At night, when outside her mech, D.Va can only use her Light Gun and harrass one player of her choice, preventing them from using an investigative or disabling ability. No recharge time. 33% charge for using this ability regardless of its success. Earns 5 points!

Ultimate - Self-Destruct: At night, D.Va can eject from her mech and cause a massive explosion, nullifying all kill protection. This will also trigger D.Va's passive ability. Each protection busted earns 20 points!

Ultimate - Call Mech: At night, when outside her mech, D.Va's Ultimate will grant her a new one when activated and cause her passive to become active again. Earns 5 points!

Bastion:

No Caption Provided

SST Laboratories Siege Automaton E54, AKA Bastion, Omnic Crisis combatant.

Bastion is a peacekeeping combat robot, one of thousands of the E54 model that were turned against their human creators during the Omnic Crisis. Deactivated on the outskirts of a battle at Eichenwald, the unit that would come to be known as Bastion went untouched for over ten years among the wreckage of its fellow units. A bird, later known as Ganymede, would rouse it years after the conflict, only to discover that much of its combat programming had been wiped in the slumber. Curious about the world, and with only foggy memories of its past, Bastion has wandered around in nature since its awakening, scaring anyone who comes across it.

Abilities:

Win Condition - Ganymede: Throughout the game, Bastion's bird Ganymede will remain perched on one player, beginning on Bastion himself. When the player with Ganymede is interacted with, Ganymede will move to the player that interacted with them (if multiple players interact with the player that has Ganymede, Ganymede will simply move to one of them at random). However, if the player that has Ganymede is killed, Ganymede will be killed as well in the crossfire. Bastion's goal is for Ganymede to survive the course of the game.

Active - Recon Configuration: At night, Bastion can use his mobile Recon Configuration to investigate three players, learning their identities. Bastion can't speak, however, and thus can't share these results with any other players. No recharge. 20% charge if at least two of Bastion's three investigations with this ability are successful.

Active - Sentry Configuration: At night, Bastion can lay down suppressive fire around one player in Sentry Configuration, protecting them from kill attempts. No recharge. 33% charge on successful protection of a kill.

Passive - Ironclad: The first time the player with Ganymede is successfully killed, Bastion will automatically jump to the bird's rescue, allowing Ganymede (note, not the player WITH Ganymede) to survive one kill attempt. This passive ability can only be triggered one time before becoming permanently inactive. Furthermore, the damage after Bastion's sacrifice will completely drain his Ultimate charge.

Ultimate - Tank Configuration: At night, Bastion can activate his loud and bombastic Tank Configuration and fire it at one player, killing them. If the player killed with this Ultimate is holding Ganymede, Ganymede will be scared off and removed from play entirely for the following two nights, then return to Bastion on the third night.

Heavy Weapons Guy:

No Caption Provided

Misha, AKA the Heavy Weapons Guy, member of RED team.

The Heavy Weapons Guy is a man out of time and out of place, from a simpler era where the Heroes wore hats and the Boxes were Orange. Locked in a tireless battle against the BLU team alongside the rest of his comrades, the Heavy is a merciless warrior that mows down every enemy in his path- and laughs while he is doing it. The Heavy has been battling robots since before there was any such thing as an "Omnic Crisis", and killing mono-colored enemies long before that. The battle may be a shade different for him this time, but bullets do not discriminate.

Abilities:

Win Condition - Showstealer: The Heavy has brighter days on his mind, and is back to reclaim the throne on behalf of his crew. In order to win, the Heavy must personally kill at least three players, not counting the lynch vote.

Active - Sasha: At night, the Heavy can rev up his minigun at one player, targeting them for a kill the following night. This ability cannot be disabled on the second night, but is still affected by kill protection. No recharge, but the ability takes two nights to perform. 50% charge for a successful kill.

Active - Ghastly Gibus: At night, the Heavy can don a masterful disguise and appear as a random role to investigators. No recharge. 10% charge for a successfully sabotaged investigation.

Active - Gloves of Running Urgently: At night, the Heavy can don special gloves to improve his speed. The following night, he can activate Sasha and kill a player in the span of only one night. However, using the Gloves of Running Urgently will mark the Heavy for death both on the night he activates it and on the following night, causing disable attempts to serve as kill attempts. No recharge time. 10% charge for a successful usage of this ability.

Bonus - Professor Speks: At night, the Heavy can investigate one player and learn their identity, but he cannot share these results with any other players. One night recharge. No charge.

Ultimate - Ubercharge: At night, the Heavy can call in help from the Medic and activate an Ubercharge, becoming invulnerable to all kill attempts, disable attempts, and lynchings for the following three days and nights.

Abilities/Priority:

Ability types:

Active ability: One, and only one, of a player's active abilities can be selected for use (almost always) during the night phase. If an ability needs to recharge after being used, the recharge time only applies to that ability; I.E. a player's other active abilities can be used while one of them is recharging.

Bonus ability: Functions identically to an active ability, but a bonus ability can be used simultaneously with an active ability in a single night.

Passive ability: Cannot be selected for use, but rather is always active and applies to a player throughout the game unless it becomes inactive (in some cases by being triggered once, or alternatively due to Winston's Tesla Cannon).

Ultimate ability: Functions identically to an active ability, but requires a special charge in order to use. At 100% charge, an Ultimate ability can be used, and the charge is reduced to 0% again (the charge has a minimum of 0 and maximum of 100). Most active and passive abilities build Ultimate charge through their successful use. An Ultimate functions as an alternative active ability; I.E. an Ultimate ability and active ability cannot be used simultaneously on the same night.

Every night, abilities will work in the following order:

1. Tracer's Blink

2. Roadhog's Chain Hook, Heavy Weapons Guy's Ubercharge

3(a). Disabling abilities

3(b). Pharah's Concussive Blast, Soldier 76's Pulse Rifle, Junkrat's Steel Trap, Mercy's Caduceus Staff, Mei's Ice Wall, Winston's Barrier Projector --- All of these abilities can prevent disabling; however, if the user is disabled the night these abilities are used, the disable will be effective and prevent their use

4. Protection abilities

5. All other misc. abilities not otherwise listed

6. Investigation abilities

7. Killing abilities

8. The nightly Villain kill

Note: Disabling abilities can prevent active abilities and Ultimate abilities, and cannot prevent passive abilities or the nightly Villain kill, unless otherwise specified.

Character Requests:

If you want preferential role selection, sign up on the thread first. Once you've been signed up, send me a PM only with your 3 most preferred Hero roles, 2 most preferred Villain roles, and single most preferred Third Party role. You must send this number of each.

If I don't receive a PM, or the PM does not have all the required selections, then your preference will be ignored and you will receive a random role.

Remember that you are not guaranteed any particular role, whether it be in your PM or not, but you are more likely to get a role you want if you follow these steps and send in the required number of preferences.

Player Slots:

Let me know if you want to join- anyone can! The game will start when every slot is filled- each role will be filled by one player.

Gonna say this, we're gonna have to be very very careful with voting as a group. A lot of abilities that seem to make lynching super easy, and if even one of the heroes with voting assist screws up, that's almost a guaranteed lynch.

Symmetra should have her rework and her ability simply be:

Active Ability: OPAF. Symmetra can kill 6 players per night and cannot be countered whatsoever.

Maybe ask a mod if we can put multiple threads up (with a link to this one) in separate forums. I believe this originally started out in Battle Forums since it was technically a tourney. What do you guys think?

I'll sign up, also we reallyyyyy need a way to garner more interest in this across the Comicvine
