Race and nationality are different things. Yes their race is Korean however their nationality is American.

They can identify as Korean, American, Korean-American, or however else they choose.

Korean is a nationality. Their race would likely be asian, which is vague, but race has never been an exact science (or any science at all for that matter).

Race is implied within nationality. not all whites are Anglo-Saxon, but all Anglo-Saxons are white.
