Is there a darker kids film than Coraline?
Coraline was pretty creepy. I don't think I can think of a movie that beats it as a whole. Sure there's scenes in other movies that are pretty dark. But, Coraline remains consistent the whole movie from what I remember.
@silkyballfro94: do you recommend watching the movie?
@cable_extreme: its a really good film
I'll be that person that brings up Water ship down.
You're a monster for speaking of the movie that shall not be named........ Oh God! The Bunnies! The Bunnies! WHY!?!?
@tj849: What about it??
Vincent by Tim Burton

@cable_extreme: Yes.
Just watched the film on Netflix, it was a great film. Thanks!
@cable_extreme: You gotta admit though its damn creepy/dark for a kids film. I still feel sorry for buttons Wybie, poor him.

Part where he couldn't talk at all, and was forced to smile. And after all of that, he still helped Coraline a big deal, I felt sorry for him. I felt most sorry for the kids that she had to free by finding their eyes.
@cable_extreme: Yeah its just really sad as well. Its based off the book. I remember when I watched in cinema when I was little damn I was scared.
Grave of the Fireflies...not sure if it counts as a kids film, though. The early part of My Life as a Zucchini is also surprising dark. There are references to child neglect, child sexual abuse, death, and murder all in the first 20 minutes. It's not a long movie and it is well worth the watch. Strong recommendation.

I probably would have liked it, but I noticed a plot hole. The witch lady lost her eye's (buttons) at the end and couldn't see, but somehow she puts her hand on the other side of the door and could chase Coraline around with it.
@cable_extreme: I thought her hand was like a pet? Had a mine of its own kind of

You got me fine sir! Have an upvote.
My favorite dark children's movie is The Dark Crystal.
Gave me nightmares first time I watched it as a kid, but I was always mysteriously drawn back to it.
