Is The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt the greatest video game of all time?
... No? I mean, even ignoring how Genres work [because someone who loves strategy games and isn't into RPGs is never going to consider the Witcher 3 all that fun to play] and the intrinsic differences between them [A FPS, A Strategy Game, an RPG game are all vastly different experiences that can't be weighed with the same metrics], I've known more then a few people, myself included, that just don't like Geralt which makes the Witcher series, very sadly, kinda impossible to get through [And I've tried, don't get me wrong. I've tried 1, 2 and now even 3 since my roommate is playing it, I almost even managed to stomach my way through the second one once, and I've even read a few novels], just..... he kinda ruins the game for me but I do love the world it is in, I also love the developer which makes it extra difficult cause I want to support them [God, I look forward to Cyberpunk].
Like I think my favorite RPG games in the last like.. decade have been Kenshi, Rimworld, Mount and Blade and Battle Brothers. All four of those games are vastly different then the standard RPGs people tend to think about, so to me, those games are what perfection looks like and others just aren't a fan of their lower graphics and more open narrative design and prefer a slicker and more character focused directed game like the Witcher.

Kinda reminds me of how I feel about Kratos from GoW. Though I guess the last game was ok. Which from what I hear GoW fans hate because it was different. I bought the Witcher 3 wild hunt when it first came out. Never got around o playing it. lol
@juicers: I did play it, I hated the combat and didn't feel like finishing it.
I never played 1 or 2 so when I started with 3 I was a little apprehensive about the storyline and characters. I couldn't immerse myself into it and I wasn't a huge fan of the combat system tbh. I've heard rave reviews on it though so I know a lot of people enjoyed it. It has all the right elements for me to enjoy but I never put enough hours into it. Maybe I'll buy it on the switch and play it this time.
BoTW Is my favorite, cannot say ive played much Witcher though... and I did really enjoy the Netflix series, so I might give it a chance after I beat Hollow Knight.
Maybe in it's own respected genre (RPG) but it's hard to compare with other genre games (FPS) Halo, HL2, and other genre's with other amazing games.
God of War
Last of Us (Just won game of the decade)
Pretty sure that was a fan vote for Sony titles no?
The watcher series is one of those I would rather watch someone else play and just observe than to play it myself.
I absolutely despise e the controls, same with Red Dead Redemption, amazing to watch but a chore to play.
Not even The Best Game of The First Half of 2015 , let alone game of the Generation , though its still a pretty awesome game , Top 10 of the PS4/Xbox one era .
From what I've heard about Witcher 3, it's gameplay is it's weakest aspect and can't really hold a candle to other games typically mentioned in any 'Greatest Games of all time' discussions. And if a game lacks in any way in the single most important category when it comes to videogames (which is Gameplay), then no matter how great it's other aspects are such as narrative or World designs, it simply can't be considered as one of the greatest.
