Generally speaking, no. But a question like this needs some metric to measure against other countries.

America is the worst country on the planet, well, except for all the others. The truth is the freedoms this country provides and the capitalistic structure have made it possible for us to have the luxury of complaining about how bad we have it. Most countries are to busy trying to survive to waist time on continually complaining about how miserable capitalism is while texting on their $1,200 iPhone while drinking a 7 dollar half-soy, half- steamed low-fat milk, expresso with 2 shots chocolate, 3 shots caramel, and 1/4 tsp of pumpkin spice from Starbucks. Even our poor are almost all in the top 1 to 2 percent of wealthy people on the planet when compared to a global standard. Our poor people have cell phones, enough food to be overweight, and most have more than one tv.

Yes, I would say so.

Doesn't mean that it's perfect, or that no other country does anything better, but overall, I'd give it that title over any other country.

What a statement, have any evidence to back it up?

Not only US have freedom.

Where's the evidence of such fallacy?

Even our poor are almost all in the top 1 to 2 percent of wealthy people on the planet when compared to a global standard.

LOL, What a self-entitlement, your poor are dying in their homes without money to pay their Insulin.

Our poor people have cell phones, enough food to be overweight, and most have more than one tv.

Not a good thing I would say the part of being overweight, well at least they are first in this.

Their expansive healthcare is still killing their citizens, try being poor with Diabetes too see your fate there.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2323087/

More than 26 260 Americans aged 25 to 64 died in 2006 because they lacked health insurance—more than twice as many as were murdered, Families USA said. In the seven years from 2000 to 2006 an estimated 162 700 Americans died because of lack of health insurance.

Imagine it by now.

If we look at countries with the Best Well Developed Health Care System, America is not even in the top 10.https://www.usnews.com/news/best-countries/slideshows/countries-with-the-most-well-developed-public-health-care-system. Denmark, Sweden, Canada, UK, Norway, Finland, Japan are but no, America doesn’t make the cut.

Health care is not the only category when it comes to countries. Nor is it even a major one. No one moves to america becuase of healthcare and no americans leave to europe for it either. try harder.

Good, never said they were.

Nor is it even a major one.

Yes it is, when you go to a country you expect to live there, unless it became difficult.

No one moves to america becuase of healthcare

That's true

and no americans leave to europe for it either.

It would be more common than the opposite.

try harder.

Not worthy, facts don't need that much effort.

govermental health care plans are not a requirment to live

still a tiny minority that shouldn't be used to determine a countries quality.

You facts are misplaced.

your facts have no signifiant bearing on america's quality.

Pretty sure this "greatest country" also has the highest school shooting rates.

But I'm being an @$$hole. It all kinda depends really. Every country has its positives and negatives.

That's a pretty vague question. Based on what? What are the measures/parameters?

It's whatever factor you hold the most importance over.

When we describe "greatest" movie, some people put emphasis of plot, others on visuals, script, music, timing etc.

When we describe "greatest" athlete in a sport, some people put emphasis on winning, others on statistics, dominance, skills etc.

When most other countries are looking towards another country to keep the peace or looking towards that country as an obstacle in their goals, I'd say that's definitely the most important factor.

China and Russia are feared and respected, does that make them great countries?

People really need to appreciate the privelege of being born in a first world country more. USA has the biggest economy and strongest millitary in the world. İt's also richer than all of major european first world countries and is ranked 10 by gdp per capita.

@paleblood:

I think it's possible to acknowledge that things can always be worse without having a mentality that the Country one is born in is already the best and does not need to improve.

USA has the biggest economy and strongest millitary in the world. İt's also richer than all of major european first world countries and is ranked 10 by gdp per capita.

Having the strongest military and biggest economy and being overall richer by net wealth doesn't necessarily speak to how the individual American is living or their quality of life. As for the underlined part, well, you've demonstrated a metric where America is unequivocally NOT the best, so there's room for improvement, no?

@leonhardt: Ranking 10 is actually really good when you are up againts other 212 countries and I am pretty sure due to taxes most countries who are higher have big American companies reserving money in them which overall make their gdp per capita look higher. Also yes just because you are in an already good situation you shouldn't stop talking about what you see wrong, I just wanted to point out that more people should appreciate the fact that they are born in a first world country.
