How long do you think would it take for you to succumb to The Stanford Prison Experiment?

In the early 1970s, the psychology professor known as Philip Zimbardo led a research project were college student volunteers were made to enact a prison simulation with the students acting as guards and prisoners. The aim was to see how actions based hierarchy, even if it was just role play, could affect someone's behavior under prolonged exposure. Said experiment was supposed to last for two weeks but ended in six days because some people took it too far.

How long do you think would it take for you to succumb to The Stanford Prison Experiment?

I'd probably snap in a short time If I was to take this kind of experiment.

Honestly it depends on the people I'm with. It was clear the "guards" took the experiment way farther than it needed to go.

I don't see what the actual difference would be between this and prison while the experiment was going on.

If I was a guard I'd snap in a minute and beat someone. If I was a prisoner I'd snap in a minute as well and shank someone.

That movie was so over dramatized. The only dude that "broke" is on record saying that he faked it. The main thing that'd be bugging me, really, is that I'm basically doing this bullcrap instead of more important things. Other than that, I'd be fine.

Before the experiment even began, because I would straight up refuse if asked to do it.

But if I were to be a part of it, probably a day. Almost every participant fully began embracing their role in a short period of time, I don't see why I would be any different.

Yes, you probably would.

Nothing against either of you personally, I'm sure you're great people. But the experiment shows that you probably would succumb. Almost all of the participants fully embraced their roles in a short period of time, unless there's extraordinary about you two, I see no reason why you wouldn't behave exactly like they did.

Well I've spent many years in actual prisons so I doubt a collage social experiment would faze me much.

I'd break in like an hour, tops

I know I wouldn't "snap" as a parole officer. I just don't have the personality for it. I don't crave power over people at all, and I don't feel like I lack power at all. And because of that, if one of the parole officers did snap and started getting physical/wild, i'd probably punch him in his face. So....actually maybe that counts as snapping in the prisoner role??? IDK

I mean, why would I be afraid of some college kids?? Lol
