No option for "they should be mandatory"?

The only difference between this and a crib is a top. If you are against cages, you are against cribs. If you are against cribs, you are against preventing children from injuring or killing themselves.

I say we provide them with the safety they need. Cribs, cages, prisons, it's all for their benefit.

Even animals shouldn't be subjected to them. If you can't have a pet without caging it, you're not smart enough to own a pet.

A wrong sizing or design for a child could be detrimental mentally and/or physically.

Effectively items like the low gates you can get for doors and stairs also make a certain part of a house into a cage... but putting them in a dog cage is extreme.
