Why would anybody want Higher Taxes ?
IDK. Maybe to support the welfare state? Single motherhood is on the rise and illegal immigration has been running rampant ever since Biden got elected. After all someone has to pay for their lifestyle.
@happylife1996: Raising minimum wage = more jobs

Not true, or, not true in the way you want it to be.

Gee golly wizz, Biden must be a real screw up to do all that in 3 months or so/s
@faradaysloth: Have you noticed how lower paying jobs have bumped up their pay in recent months because people don't want to work for chump change after getting that 600 a week ?
Lower taxes to pay for things that are actually needed instead of wiping other peoples' asses like we do now, I'll never understand the people who want higher taxes when it's not needed.

I don't need to, but thanks for your input.
@faradaysloth: You do for a credible argument
Taxes are always going to be a thing since the government has to do stuff. Depends on who has the larger burden (poor vs rich) and what the taxes are being used for.
@kgb725: no I don’t need to, especially if it’s anecdotal evidence.
Like any investment it depends what you're getting out of them.
Tell me, are you more conscientious of your spending or are you more careful when someone else is footing the bill? Most people are far more conscientious with their own money than someone else's. People take better care of their stuff than they do the "collective's" stuff.
From justfactsdaily.com -
A study published by the European Central Bank in 2016 found that European nations with greater levels of "welfare state spending" had higher levels of "wealth inequality." This is because "social services provided by the state are substitutes for private wealth accumulation," and when governments provide more welfare benefits, "there is less need for relatively poor households to hold precautionary savings, and more income might be used for consumption purposes." Social programs like Social Security have similar effects because the taxes used to fund these programs hinder people's ability to save, and the expectation of benefits reduces their incentive to save. For example, a study published by the University of Chicago Press found that Social Security raises wealth inequality by about 20% and leaves lower-income households with "less to save, less reason to save, and a larger share of their old-age resources" in a form they cannot pass along to their heirs.

Raising minimum wage =/= more jobs.
In your example, job is already created (we are not adding new job)
it's just that nobody wants to work because they do not need to.
This question is useless in a vacuum. It depends entirely on what level taxes are already at in this scenario, who's taxes are being raised/lowered(everyone's? Just the highest bracket?) and what said taxes are being used for.
@mimisalome: Why would we need more jobs ? Most people don't work in a specific field
Most people need to they will go to the highest paying jobs that will pay them

You are the one who pointed out that:
"Raising minimum wage = more jobs"
I'm just pointing out that it isn't, atleast not in the case of your example.
The jobs are already there in the first place, we aren't creating more jobs.
If we are gonna use your logic for job creation, then we should encourage paid unemployment.
That sounds pretty stupid if you ask me.
@mimisalome: That definitely fit into the theme of the guy i replied to.
Perfectly fine with me. Well we didn't ask

I disagree, I think the person you had referred earlier actually made more sense.
Productive jobs are created through productive investments (as dictated by the law of supply and demand).
And not through unsustainable artificial mechanism like minimum wage policies, or unemployment aids.
@mimisalome: Who cares. There's more money but less opportunity ? That makes no sense
Other countries have proven its success
Pretty sure most people will opt for lower taxes. Who would want to pay more in taxes? They already drive people insane. Maybe if I did see great changes that taxes are positively influencing, maybe I would be okay with current taxes, possibly wouldn't even mind if they were a tad higher. But, alas, I feel like a big part of our taxes are not even used for the right reasons. Maybe higher taxes should be set for properties, land, machines, cars, maybe even retail, but I would opt for less tax or no tax at all on groceries. My paystub creator https://www.thepaystubs.com/ shows me some crazy tax % sometimes.
The state takes taxes from us, withholding a certain amount from our wages and other income each month. Those who believe that high taxes are necessary assume at the outset that the state has a moral right to take a portion of their income to provide someone else with benefits or to fund public services. This sounds logical because if you look at the statistics of countries, the standard of living is higher in those with high or progressive taxes. As you understood, I am not against taxes. I regularly make check stubs online and pay for everything. I understand that many people don't want to lose part of their income, but I'm sure that you should strive to earn more in this case.
