Who do you feel are the greatest leaders in your opinion ? What leaders do you feel inspire you in a positive way ?
Great Historical Leaders Thread
Alexander the Great, leading by being equal to his followers
inspires me to hopefully conquer the world one day and spread my influence throughout it
Are there really any Great Leaders? Every leader out there that has been dubbed as a great leader, whether they stood for equaility or whatever, had some sort of personal gain.
Here Are Mine
Martin Luther King Jr. - His message for equality for all men through "The Dream" speech was so impactful
Malcolm X - His message of blacks standing up for there rights inspired me
Abraham Lincoln - He freed the slaves dude !
Bill Maher - I know he isnt a leader but I like his cynical attitude towards religion. LOL
Barack Obama - I believe he is the future of the United States going in a positive direction
Louis Farrakhan - At times I really dont like Farrakhan because he comes off like a racist and an anti-semitic. But I heard him say some pretty powerful things about the minority community at Black Union debated with Tavis Smiley.

I understand what you are saying Kiara Sullivan. It doesnt nessesarily have to be a " great leader " just a leader would be fine.
Bangs head on desk
Abraham Lincoln did NOT free the slaves. That was just a presidential ploy for his canidacy. Before the start of the Civil War there was not talk of freeing the slaves. There was talk of making some states free. And others Slave states.

Hmm... well if thats true I may have to revise my list
Oh Noes I cant call King Saturn KS x_X It would be like I am talking to myself xP
But yes thats true. I'm a Civil War Fanatic. I love anything to do with it. Even though I am from the south I love to prove southerners wrong and the same with anyone else. I'll have to go and look up the information, but the Emancipation Proclamation was just written to get the peoples vote. Or Something Like that. My mind is all blah right now. But I know it wasnt Good ole Honest Abe who freed the slaves, but he did get the notion stuck in everyones heads.

"Adolph Hitler....what? he was a good artist."
he was a great leader, and he used it to his advantage...leading the youth of Germany into evils beyond their comprehension
Sparda says:
"Leonidas.Seriously, he rocks, lol."
however he was far off from the depiction in the movie 300

How can you have Louis Farrakhan and Malcolm X on the same list?
Louis Farrakhan (born Louis Eugene Walcott, May 11, 1933), is the acting head of the Nation of Islam (NOI) as the National Representative of Elijah Muhammad. He is also well-known as an advocate for African American interests and a critic of American society.
Farrakhan has been the center of much controversy, and critics have, among other things, said that some of his views and comments have been racist, homophobic, and antisemitic.[4] Farrakhan denies these charges, and frequently insists that his controversial comments are taken out of context by critics.[5] Farrakhan currently resides in Kenwood, an affluent neighborhood on the south side of Chicago.
The man has been linked for years to the death of Malcolm X. Even now that he has cancer he is unwillingly to completely admit any wrong doing. Instead tip toeing around the fact.

The man is a hypocrite and a racist.
Farrakhan is an anti-semite and when has Barack Obama shown any leadership values? Just saying. He's been in senate for 2 years

LMAO, exactly what I was thinking
Alexandria Cromwell says:
"Louis Farrakhan?"
Yes. But I said in my original post that I dont really agree with everything he says. In the past Farrakhan has said racist and anti-semitic remarks that has made me hate him at times. But I heard him at a Black Union debate and he spoke on the issues of minorites in the poor communities and he was really on point with what he said there.

I figured someone whould say that. Its not so much as to I dont know that Farrakhan had something to do with Malcolm X's murder or that I pardon Farrakhan for taking part in it. Its what wisdom and knowledge I can draw from each person on the list. Though I havent drawn much wisdom from Minister Farrakhan, it was some things I feel he is on point about. Farrakhan really was a push though ( thats why I had him last on my list ).

Thats cool and I didn't mean to seem like I was attacking you personally. Its just when it comes to Great historical leaders, having his name next to some of the true greats is a slap in the face.

Sonnova :P I am not your personal punching bag lol

Well I figured I would get some debate on Farrakhan being on my list. Though I will admit for the most part you guys are right in terms of him being anti-semetic and racist. I have heard Farrahkhan say some things that made me sick. I would never say he is a true leader,or he is even in the same league as Malcolm X or Dr. King. That would be totally wrong.

I know buddy. I said Farrahkhan was a racist and anti-semetic three times now. But he has had a few gems of wisdom at times. But to be truthful I cant really name any leader in that was apart of the Nation of Islam that was worth hearing besides Malcolm X. Even the honorable Eljiah Muhammed said some things that were very racist.
