One of the free networks offered by AT&T U-Verse in my area is Illusion TV, and they've had the same bloody programs up for the last four or five months, including a Top 20 Countdown of Comic Book Supervillains. Dan Slott is one of the commentators, and his take on the Kingpin is ignorant ("His super power is being a fat guy"). On a superficial level, Slott looks like Patton Oswalt if Patton Oswalt had been freakishly deformed by the malfunction of a Riddler-esque intellect-sucking device at the end of Batman Forever. I loathe the Slott. I love Mike Allred, but Slott's involvement kept me away from Silver Surfer. Bleh. My venom is spent.

First and foremost, I want to thank all my fans and decent strangers who stood with me and supported me throughout the week. You guys and gals are the reasons why common sense will prevail over knee-jerk overreaction.

There are things you need to be outraged about. There are things you need to rally against. There are things you need to call out and fight with all your might. But an unpublished drawing of a pretty fictional woman by an artist to show to his fans on his website is not one of them.

The outcry over my drawing by the misguided few is nonsensical and simply stupid. It is an outcry over an imaginary slight, and an outcry of the desperate who want to make a name for themselves in the industry. It was fascinating, amusing and appalling to see the overzealous critics of my art use faux outrage to air their personal demons and imagined injustices in the world. I can’t stress enough what utter nonsense and a waste of energy this whole event has been.

There are many real problems that deserve the attention and effort this make-believe scandal has unfairly received, problems I want to help fix. I’m going to use the publicity generated by this Spider-Gwen drawing and create something positive out of it by showcasing one of the more deserving charities – House of Ruth, a charity that helps battered women and broken families find safe haven in this world of threats and violence.

I am donating the money generated by my Spider-Gwen drawing to House of Ruth, a real charity that deals with and solves real problems.

Did you read the response the Australian Broadcasting Corporation made to complaints about their coverage of GamerGate? It basically said the evidence was overwhelming in GG's Misoginy platform and they're not required to show the other side.

People who fight against censorship, against moral panics and anything that is cool, get hurt by the people who is in power.

If RDJ said that the GG is stupid, but isnt the KKK, ISSIS and that the Anti GG was as bad, Whedon would try to fire him.

That is the state of any industry, politics matter more that talent.

@dernman: I think the comic writers have too much to lose by publicly identifying as pro-GG, especially considering comic companies cave to SJW's frequently. SJW's have more of a foothold in comics than they do video-games.

It's infuriating when arguing with them, it's akin to a religious cult. The celebs who are anti-GG, even if beaten in debate, will not change their opinion for sake of PR.

I think this site is quite pro-GG, moreso than Giant Bomb which was co-opted by SJW's.
