Flat earth or Moon landing conspiracy theories, which is more ridiculous?
Flat Earth is way more ridiculous. There are so many ways to prove the world is round even as a non-scientist it's unbelievable. There is not a shred of evidence that the Earth is flat and they have no working model that can predict, well anything.
At least it is somewhat reasonable to believe we didn't have the technology to land on the moon that long ago. Although again, there is plenty of evidence we did indeed land on the moon.
Definitely flat earth.
I mean, you can make the argument that some of the moon landing footage was faked even if they actually did go to the moon. The fact that they lost the footage is shady. There are real scientific issues like getting past the van-allen belt that provide scientists today real problems. Probably gave the astronauts some radiation poisoning that they can't be public about.

People who says the earth is flat needs help.
I mean if the Earth really is flat, then how would time even work? What would happen if you were standing at the end of the earth? Would there be oceans? How would Day & Night work?
Hell you can go to maps on your iPhone, turn on 3D mode, zoom out, and boom. There’s the Round Earth
Flat—Earthers, and it's not even close
It's more ridiculous to say that man didn't land on the moon.
Once you see the un-doctored footage of the moon landing, you see that the moon is also a disc, which is why the same side always faces the earth.
Actually believing anything in space is real, let alone that we left the flat Earth's upward velocity of 9.8m/s² causing the illusion of gravity. smh..
Flat Earth by far.
There is actually evidence that the Moon Landings were fake, but IMO they were real.

Ancient Greeks knew the earth was spherical(Eratosthenes even correctly deduced the earth's circumference in freakin 200 BC!) and contrary to popular myth most educated folk in medieval times did believe in a spherical earth. People who still believe in a flat earth in the modern day really need a reality check.
@majinblackheart: Evidence abounds for a flat earth. The problem is indoctrination. Individuals don't want it to be true because they don't want to believe that they've been wrong their entire lives.
When a person removes bias and is able to review the evidence objectively, FE seems plausible. It's the globe earth that is lacking evidence and is ridiculous. In our everyday lives we never experience anything but living on a flat, stationary earth. This is what we'd all undoubtedly think if not for the programming which we've been forced into since infancy.
@mrmonster: You should read about Admiral Byrd. He probably did find the edge. You should also research FE to have your other questions answered.
Both FE and the moon landing conspiracy are ridiculous for those who willingly accept the programming of the government. For those who are open-minded, both spherical earth and the moon landing can be seen to have major issues. Most people will explain these issues away since the alternatives are "obviously" ridiculous. They don't come to these conclusions because they can prove that the earth is a sphere or because they know for a fact that man went to the moon. They come to these conclusions because indoctrination is really that powerful.
Note the insults by many in this thread. Individuals who believe in alternative ideas, especially FE, are considered stupid. If so, those ideas should be easily shut down. If, however, FE threatens a person's worldview (and, by extension, their comfort), then it's not surprising at all that they'd lash out and use insults.
Removing one's biases and researching FE is a good first step. If one wants to live in the fake reality that "authority figures" have lied to us about, then so be it. That's their prerogative.
You have to be trolling. Things calculated based on a spherical Earth and solar system:
- Calendar with accurate hours and years
- Sunrise/Sunset
- Tides
- Solstices
- Eclipses (which show the curvature of earth I might add)
- Transits
- Phases of the Moon
- Where are the planets and stars will be throughout the year
- Maritime navigation
- Air navigation
- Satellite orbits and space craft trajectories
- Weather/Climate Prediction
- Asteroid/comet orbits/tracejtories
Flat Earth models can't predict or explain anything. Literally nothing. many of the above can easily be observed by the layperson as you live your life.
@ourmanuel: isn’t omega always the weakest?
@ourmanuel: isn’t omega always the weakest?
No. It depends on how you use it. Omega is last in the greek alphabet so often represents the end in a line of something.
What you're thinking about is animals, like wolves for example. It's standard practice to refer to it that way because someone coined it in their study of them. Other than familiarity with that, there is nothing stopping someone from using it the opposite way. Like say if you studied a species that gets stronger down the lineage. The omega would be stronger than the alpha.

I'll just say this for the earth being a sphere. I was a Forward Observer for the artillery in the Army. When I observed targets (the distance between the targets and the actually artillery pieces what a GREAT distance) I sometimes had to allow for not only the curvature of the earth but its rotation. If not my first adjusting rounds (the first round fired upon which to adjust the next rounds onto the target...artillery is not usually a precision weapon...would be off by over a hundred meters...usually more. up to five hundred meters (COMPLETELY unacceptable for a first adjusting round). This is government indoctrination?
It seems that both groups start with a mistrust of the federal government and then argue their point from there; but, the question has embedded within it a sense of knowledge that someone may not necessarily have and trying to tease people who try to develop their hypothesis to argue against standard belief; basically, listen to out of the ordinary points and see if you can question conventional wisdom; however, the questions is, why would the government be making either of these up? What would the government gain? And, at this point, other countries like China are now close to exploring the moon; while they make some good points as to why the government could gain from creating a false impression about these, they all just fall down from there; assuming that we can believe the images that we see, a moon landing conspiracy is a bit more rational than a flat earth conspiracy; and you can see astrological objects every in outer space, where everything is round, even starting with the moon and the sun; why would the earth be different or the lone exception? You could listen to their point and, given that they are all based on conspiracy by the government, could lead you into a cult following, where something has a grain of truth to it but balloon to new heights from there; however, in other context, you can see or answer why someone would be motivated to make something up, using what appears to be rational reasoning, as you would be disproving something that a lot of people who dear and sacred (e.g. Christianity and being creation is true; clearly, a question like this can seemly be seen as chipping away from that, when these two are very different things and this doesn't start with a conspiracy theory).
Both Flat Earth and Moon Landing hoax has far too many evidences to support them than the Globe Earth model, it's just that we have all been trained to believe everything that comes from the mainstream.
Long distance visibilities absolutely destroy the Globe theory. If Earth is a sphere of 25000 miles in circumference, the fact that we can see the entirety of a lighthouse that's about 14 miles away, from bottom to top, when a large part of that lighthouse should've been hidden from our view due to the curvature of the surface of the spherical Earth, as dictated by mathematics, completely makes the Globe Earth fall 'flat'. Footages like these pose a serious threat to the globe model:
And as for the moon landings, the obvious intersecting shadows in the photos, how the moon rocks that were given to museums were all proven fake, how the photo of Earth was copy pasted and tons more evidence prove that it was a mass deception.
I don't think you can measure ridiculousness in this context. I've known people who 'believed' in evolution, but who also had a really poor understanding of the actual science behind evolution. Its the reasoning that people employ in exploring, reaching or in some cases 'affirming' a conclusion that is where the focus should be. There can be different degrees of reason and knowledge for various theories, scientific theories, hypothesis, conclusions, conspiracy "theories". Granted, certain of those often invite ridicule because of the relative lack of understanding of certain scientific and rational understanding, but ehh... I think its better to demonstrate patience and reason when explaining as much.
We need to try and let go of the competitiveness with ideas and ridiculing others lack of reasoning. Try and focus on what we find compelling and how to go about identifying and distinguishing the best reasons/reasoning.
