Poll Does the new Star Trek kinda suck? Discovery is kinda bad? (14 votes)

It sucks, poor writing, poor show 50%
its OK 36%
I'm watching but I have my criticism 7%
Best Star Trek Eva!!!! 14%

Problems, lacks the original vision, not Roddenberry perhaps they should have named the show something else

The characters that tall freaky alien Mr Chicken or Mr C3PO slimy alien...what's his purpose...to keep saying we're Doomed in an un-funny way? Sassy blackgirl she was supposed to be raised emotionless, rational Vulcan...she's a weird angry swiss army knife wonder woman Lt. Mary Sue. The Klingons, not Klingon, language is forced, like the actors are fart and coughing out random syllables, Star Trek is un-beat this too Dark and not Funny...I hear online it has too much politics with the Leftwing Hollyweird writers comparing the Klingon's to rightwing redneck Trump supporters...then who is Star Fleet? Anti-Fa...Hillary supporters?

The "old canon" or old continuity is now entirely in the hands of fan fiction, comicbooks, board gamers and the Star Trek Online videogamers

There is definitely a liberal agenda under all of the dialogue.

I haven't been paying much attention to Trek, but I feel they left the whole explorer concept/idea behind and just turned into a generic action sci-fi.

At least from what I've seen on previews and such for the newer stuff.

It is more of a united nations, not really a specific nation.

I felt that it was too dark and too serious, a definite departure from the past incarnations. It was OK overall.

@cable_extreme: The point is Gene Roddenberry was a leftist. It's like complaining of Atlas Shrugged having a capitalist agenda.

I like what they're trying to do, and the special effects are top notch, but the writing isnt very good. Characters do stupid shit all the time and stuff often just doesnt make sense. And not to mention that the main character isnt very likable, and the show starts with her attacking her commanding officer and trying to start a war with the Klingons because of some feeling she had.

I hope it gets better, at least in the writing department.

I heard it was pretty good from a critical Star Trek fan, I know. I haven't seen it yet. It's on my "to-do" list. On the other hand, I saw White Famous last night. That show is funny. Very enjoyable.

The original Star Trek was about people of all nations coming together.

Aaron Harberts said the Klingons are like Trump supporters, being a divisive little cretin to show off for your political side is a good example of what people mean these days when they say liberal agenda.

Yeah the Klingons were changed for no apparent reason, and the way they speak is just horrible. There's no fluidity in their speech and everything they say is painful to listen to. I also hate having to read subtitles. Just have them speak English for God's sake. It's a common storytelling notion that characters are understood to be speaking their own language with each other, but we hear ours for the sake of making the story easier to understand and follow.

As far as the Vulcans, apparently now they have this magical instant telepathic communication system that they never had before. <rollseyes>
