Let me guess, you're asking whether the poor quality of a race-changed live-action adaptation of a fictional character is to attributed to the actor/actresses' acting ability?

No. I don't care about race, I just enjoy the movie. I don't care that Deadshot is black in the DCEU nor do I care that the Ancient One is White in the MCU.

I do because I care about the the stories. For me I see these as stories about characters. When they're not allowed to be the characters its negative marks.

Is the question about the ability and backlash against actors playing characters of different race?

heres my take.

I am a big fan of faithful adaptions of comics and books to movies and tv series's with an attempt to bring the source material to life as accurately as possible. So if the city is described as being entirely made of white marble, I want the city made of white marble, if a character is fat I want him fat, if he's described as tall or ginger I want him tall or ginger.... and if the character has blonde hair, blue eyes and white skin, I want him played by an actor with blonde hair, blue eyes and white skin.

This isn't to say that actors who don't fit the physical bill for the character to a t couldn't give a decent performance as that character, they just wouldn't be my first pick to play that character and I understand peoples frustration when the casting's announced and the role went to someone you can't envision as the character.

I remember when Daniel Craig was announced as bond and people weren't happy he was blonde.

I have also enjoyed looser adaptions where its less a 1 to 1 adaptation and more of an "inspired by" and they take liberties/mix things up, but I get that this opinion can be sacrilege to comic book/book puritans.

I don't think actos can change their race at will, so it's kind of an unfair standard.
