Yes, who is also my ex-fiancee, which has been quite awhile ago, as it ended shortly after Valentine's Day 1997; other than almost getting a new girlfriend shortly afterwords, it's been a long, sad, but, sort of peculiar drought ever since, as a new relationship hasn't been even close to budding; it appears that I'm just too old fashion for this day and age, but, I'm just not a gangster/bad guy type of man.

I see. That was a long time ago. It may be a good idea to try it again. I can't say how much that will work, but it's probably easier for older people. I just finished grad school relatively recently, so I can understand how after a certain age, meeting new people becomes difficult. Just food for thought, bud. Good luck! :)

I don't think my issue is really age related and I look younger; people only about 15 years older than me and older still call me you man, when they see me; I'm not that much older, but, sure, a bit older. But, on my side, it has something to do with my lack of financial stability, ironically, only starting about a year and a half after this online dating attempt; of course, I'm very shy.

I was more referring to age in the sense that when you're not in school or some other environment where you interact with a lot of people or are able to meet new people, then that'll affect your dating options and online dating my be a better option. Given your age, you probably only interact with people at work, which will limit dating options. And yeah, being very shy as you say you are will negatively impact dating options as well. But if you want a relationship, there's always a way. So good luck.

I can understand how you might feel that way, but A. You should really only compare your experiences to your own life (you gotta watch out for that "grass is always greener" business, it's a trap), B. If you're happy with who you have and the experience you have, rock with that man!

Lately, I've been thinking of settling down and getting married.

The biggest problem is that this is the age of the Internet.

People are vainer than ever, it is like playing Russian roulette, divorce rates are higher than ever, I've already witnessed 4 divorces inside my family circle, this year alone.

The selfless, benevolent people that we want are a bit harder to fish out and they take a lot longer to open up to you. They don't seem to be a big fan of social networks either, they have small social circles and that makes it really hard to approach them(especially when they're overly-defensive).

There is also the fact that my life has been riddled with dead end short-term relationships.

There are some nice girls that I know and it is very likely, that any of them would make a great partner.

I just have to figure out the transition from a stable relationship(something I've never had) to marriage, I have no clue as far as that is concerned.

I tend to do stupid things from time to time and when you couple that with the macho/intimidating presence that I usually manifest, which in all honesty, it is not accurate at all, I just look that way, usually, shit will hit the fan.

I guess everyone goes through this and there will come the day, where everything will fall into place,.

I briefly had a girlfriend when we were new in the Air Force, but she dumped me to marry another airman.
