I voted yes, even though I never played as a kid. Later in life I joined a group of players that hated me , because I was a newbie slowing the game down and they were a close fit boys club. Eventually I joined a group playing something called 'Deadlands' and I had a ball!

@blubber: Good on you for not giving up on the game just because you had a rough experience with some players. Hate the players, don't hate the game.

Not sure if playing Buldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights or Icewing Dale counts.
Or reading books about Forgotten Realms.

I've never gotten really deep into it and I don't remember all the rules of the game, but a couple of my friends sorta dragged me into it a few times, and ngl, I had fun.

I love it if those I'm playing with are close friends that I'm comfortable with. It's hard to get into the game when playing with people you barely know.

I'm really trying to get into it! I've done two campaigns, one I died fairly early into and quit, and the other was short improv but I honestly had a good time with both

Way back when, I played AD&D 2nd Edition from Freshman high school through college. I DM’d some games, but also just ran a character on our weekend sessions. It was a good time, but it also made me have a grudge against computer and console RPG’s until Morrowind. Until then most CRPG/JRPG’s seemed too restrictive and impersonal. These days I only play RPG’s on my PC and consoles, and while they are greatly improved they still lack a lot of the chaotic improvisation of table top gaming.
