You know the guys who skate your shakes to you, do you think they deserve a tip?
Do Sonic servers deserve a tip?
Servers make smaller wages because people are expected to tip, I agree that tipping is a stupid concept but that's how it works in America so yeah tip your server.
Not for a fast food place. I tip well at sit down restaurants though.
Sonic is different though, those severs are busting ass out there in the heat. Down in central & south Texas those severs are bringing you a nice cold slushy all the while they're soaked in sweat.
@diarrhearegatta: yeah I live in Alabama. Honestly I might go to Sonic once a year. Maybe next time I’ll leave a tip.

Just out of curiosity have you ever been to Alabama's Gulf Coast? What's that like? I've only seen Galveston's east beach.
@diarrhearegatta: Gulf Coast beaches are the best. Fluffy white sand, clear water and tons of stuff to do. I’ve spent more time at the ones in the Florida panhandle (Panama City Beach) but Gulf Shores is great too.
Tips are stupid.
Tip isn't a thing in my country and it shouldn't be anywhere else.

Agreed. The US is one of the only countries on Earth where the customer is expected to pay the employee's salary, not their boss.
"But, if we get rid of tipping, restaurants will raise their prices to make up for the extra cost of their employees paychecks."
Yes, that's true, but it would still be a better system.
As a non-American I would like to take this opportunity to ask Americans: How much percentage of the bill are you supposed to tip for restaurants?
I heard its good practice to adhere to the tax rate of 15-20%?

About 12%

It's supposed to be 20% for good service.

Really? i've been giving 12% all this time. I guess servers hate me.

Some restaurants up north (New York, to be exact) have done away with the tipping. Some are paying livable wages. Others are paying servers a percentage of every check.
But, if it drives up the price of their food, so be it. Folks gotta make a living, and sometimes, living off of tips can be difficult to manage because business varies. At the same time, its disheartening when people come out to eat, and feel like they shouldn't tip (or tip well), even if the service is good.
Yeah, that's not a good tip, at all.

That fully depends on how hot your sever is. If it's just some dude 10%-12%, if it's a smoking hot lady 50%.
Tips are stupid.

Man I'd love to check out the fishing in Mobile Bay one of these days, I honestly wasn't too fond of the beaches in Galveston they're kinda gross.
@diarrhearegatta: Felt the same way when I went to a East Coast beach for the first time.
