Cougar vs Leopard
I want to say Cougars because I believe they have stronger bodies for slashing/ripping with their claws. Not sure though. Wife works at a Zoo, I'll ask her when she gets home.
Given they have comparable physiques, hunting tactics and size. It's going to be a matter of which of the two individuals are in better shape health wise and more cunning.

This.

Who wins between the two?
@frozen: Still deciding, not too well versed on big cats.
Leopard
Yeeeeee!!!!

This isn't true. Among the Larger cats, the strength of a Leopard is only really exceeded by a Jaguar if we look at a pound for pound level.
@laflux: But Leopards muscle structure, assuming I'm not confusing them, is built around dragging prey up a tree and away from other predators. So yes they may be "stronger" but you need to look around at what their musculature is designed for.

Its also built around wrestling prey down as quickly as possible. Unlike lions and cheetahs, who are more running orientated, they are ambush hunters- even though ironically they can run faster than Lions. And I believe they have the better hunting feats too. A 45 kg Female has apperently killed a 450 kg Antelope before. They also have stronger bites. In fact a large Leopard will displace every predator in a one on one setting in the Savanna excluding Lions. Large Male Leopards actually sometimes make a habit of killing fully grown Hyena's, which reach 80 plus kilos and have one of the strongest bite forces in the Animal Kingdom.
@laflux, @granitesoldier Will depend on environmental factors as well. In most areas the leopard will have the advantage but whatever and whoever gets the victory it will end in a Phyrric Victory. The winner will sustain a lot of damage that will effect it's hunting prowess

this is also true.
Does the Cougar's rounded skull put it at a disadvantage?
@frozen: You should do some animal vs animal fights using the creatures from my 'Guide to Animals' LOL
IIRC a Cougar has a bite force of 350 PSI. I don't know how much a Leopard has though.
I think victory depends on the location and health of the combatants. Since this is a battle on comic vine then we can just say they are at peak physical condition. So now it just boils down to location.
Other then that...

@warlordeternal: According to the only source I found with a Leopards bite force, a leopard can bite at 450 - 550 psi.
@monsterstomp: That's impressive.I might give this to the Leopard.
@frozen Where are they fighting?
Too many factors to consider, I think the winner will be whoever strikes first or whoever has luck on their side.
@monsterstomp: @modernww2fare: @erik: This is the only reported fight I think there has ever been between a Cougar and a Leopard.
The Cougar won, though conditions vary.

I guess that wraps this up. Are there any accounts of vice-versa?
Strength: Leopard
Bite: Cougar > or = Leopard
Muscle Density to Weight Ratio: Leopard
Athlete: Cougar
Winner: Uncertain (Too many factors to be considered in an actual fight)
It takes a wolf pack of atleast 4 members to take a cougar, leopard on the other end are the batmen of the big cats(they and tigers), their stealth and cunning ways are to be notated(leopard).
With prep a leopard wins this.
Wihout prep am still backing the leopard, it has better speed, strength, it once caught a deer running 50mph with strategy, and speed.

So do I!
Cougar. Leopards are weak.
No they aint. Leopards are just a tad bit smaller than a Cougar and I will agree that the Cougar has more powerful limbs but you cant say a Leopard is weak. They pull prey twice as large as themselves on trees, which indicates the strength and endurance they posses.

Cougars can do the same plus the Leopard can barely pull up a dead Gazelle's carcass up the tree. Thats pretty weak to me

Please show me evidence or scans of Cougars being able to drag prey up a tree. As for me, I have plenty of scans showing a Leopard dragging up many animals and one includes a dead baby Rhino.
