If you had a best friend, a friend you've known since the early years of elementary school and you grew up together and were really close. But later on down the line you are forced to move far away from your best friend, then at the new neighborhood you were at you make new friends, and one of those people in the new group of friends also became your close friend.

Do you think your "new" best friend could ever replace the old one(in other words do you think you'll find yourself preferring to be around this new best friend more than the old)? Even if the new best friend was more fun to be around or funnier or whatever?

Imo no new best friend could ever replace the old one, the OG. But maybe other people think differently.

The same exact thing has happened to me. And "no" the new friend does not replace the old friend. Just don't over think it. It's not as if you married the person.

They can't replace each other, lol. They're different people with different personalities.... This'd be more complicated if we were talking about spouses.

The old friend can now get stuffed because the new one is here to replace him.

I mean if my new friend is both funnier and cooler... yeah I'd prefer hanging out with them. Friends come and go though, just because I prefer to doesn't mean I'll have the opportunity to. Just happy for any and all friends that walk into my life

I wouldn't say "replace" but rather I would move on from my old best friend while cherishing the awesome moments we had together. We're best friends forever...nothing can change that mutual status we have for each other.

im not sure. I never really considered anyone my "best friend" until high school, but we're still just as close if not closer now in college even though we live in different states

Yes. In life, you just gotta move on. Friends will move away from you, and you'll have to move away from your friends. Moving on from good friends is never easy, but you have to do it.

@mrmonster: But you can have more than 1 friends, so no one needs to replace anyone. I honestly agree with you about moving on tho.

If you find that you have grown apart from an old friend and have found a new friend. Why not do as I do and have your old friend taken into a taxidermist. You can have him or her stuffed and posing in a way you want to remember them....flipping the bird...mooning at traffic....any pose you wish.

Keep them with you for life and never grow apart again....use them as a coat rack... or dry your wet towels on them. You'll wonder why you didn't have them stuffed earlier....

Moving on, meeting new people, getting new friends are all apart of life. I agree with that. But I'm not gonna drop a best friend I had since childhood to adulthood, now of course I'm not just gonna think about that friend constantly cause that's just weird af, I'm just saying I won't forget about my old homie and nobody could become a new best friend and make me say "yeah this guy's cooler, f**k the last guy" lmao.
