Buffy The Vampire Slayer vs Angel
Buffy always performed better than Angel when they were together. The only thing that might have changed that is Angel's experience in After the Fall, but I still go with Buffy.
I pretty much love the two shows equally. Buffy was more comedic and Angel was more action oriented, but they were both Whedon gold. In my opinion, Buffy was at her best in Season 5 (I never new what would happen next) and at her worst in season 6 (depressing as Hell). Angel was best in season 5 (great chemistry, solid character development, excellent pacing), and in its worst during season 4 (poorly written first half of season, badly utilized Cordellia, almost everything to do with Connor).
If you put a bullet to my head, I'd probably pick Buffy, but they are both great shows.
Well I guess ill drop my two cents of Angel season 4 seeing as its regarded as the worst. I didn't find as badly written as some of fans find it, especially knowing that they had plans on bringging back Doyle but Glenn Quinn sadly passed away before he could come back and shoot any scenes and Charisma Carpenter did get pregnant in between season 3 and 4 so they also write with that in mind and shoot around that.
I do admit I didn't care for Connor in the least bit but that may be because I never liked when he talked about being stuck in Quor'Toth and we as an audience never got to see any of it (witch is problem that maybe rectified with the current Angel & Faith arc) but the biggest thing I was a fan of was Wesley slowly coming back into the team and the 3 episodes Faith was in.
Buffy by a long shot! I couldn't stand all the crying that went on (loved the theme itself, though) in the Angel opening credits (Darling Violetta, anyone?). Then again, a friend of mine referred to Buffy as the vampire layer which is pretty accurate. :) To be fair, I quit watching Buffy after Willow went evil as I couldn't stand it anymore.
I liked Buffy a lot more. I struggled to get through Angel.
hmmmmm
Buffy was definitely better, imo. The later episodes of Angel felt like a chore to get through, and I couldn't really stand Gunn, Connor, and most times Wesley.
Both amazing shows.. and I love them just as equally. I think it depends on taste tbh, if you like the dark and more serious themes you'll gravitate towards Angel, but if you prefer the more comedic stuff you'll love Buffy. (Not that any of these shows lack either of these, just one has it more than the other.)
With that said.. Buffy wins for me, I connected to the show more and I preferred the characters in it (minus Spike, Lorne, Lilah & Fred). plus I do think Season 4 of Angel wasn't overly great, felt so stale to me.
Angel, Buffy was never a puppet. Actually I do enjoy both of them, just found the Angel series more enjoyable in the end. Especially with all the flashbacks.
You said the same thing three months ago.
Fool you once, shame on you. Fool you twice, also shame on you!
@metaljimmor: that even more awkward moment when you come into a thread to make a comment but are then told you made the same comment three months ago about a comment five yrs ago
I've never seen Angel before
I had seen Buffy when I was a kid...it came on TV in England in the early noughties
I'll have to see Angel in order to come to a decision on which show I like better
