This is the first time I open a thread of my own and seen all the crap there is out there, I wanted to make something worth talking about. So, here it is.

The live action versions of all time Superhero movies are here to stay, and of all the changes each history has made to the source material, there is one thing that all of them have done alike.

Taking away the voluptuous type heroines in favor of a more appropiate look.

One could argue the overemphasizing of the physical attributes of Superheroes was common in both men and women, and it has been downgraded in live action in order to adapt to the bodies of the actors that portrait the characters. But I would dare to say that male Superheroes still emphasize male attributes in a way that is not always realistic.

Check those abs:

I love Gal Gadot as WW so no complains there.

But it's true I was expecting more voluptuousity when I started watching the live action super-movies. I'm talking 'bout 10+ years back, for I soon understood that was not going to happen.

As far as I am concerned I wouldn't mind more boobs. I mean, who would, right? However, now that my son is starting to be interested in all the Marvel movies, I appreciate that the sexy aspect of superheroines has been toned down. I don't want him to grow with an oversexualizaced vision of women.

That said, it is sort of hypocritical the fuss around how sexist superhero comics have been, since I find that even though it's true that women are drawn veery sexy, men superheroes are also portrayed overly masculine.

It's quite sad when you have to take something important away just to appease the lesser. Boobs are a miracle of their own right, and should be presented appropriately by their source material. This female hero has large titties? Well, make sure she keeps them in all adaptations. This male hero has a huge package? Well, let him keep it. If these aspects are what draw in fans, shouldn't they remain instead of throwing them away to make a few whiny bitches stop crying?

It's not like every Amazon did it as a rite, it was just their archers & only when it was necessary.

The only way I could see gal godot could ever be a volubsies as comic Wonder Woman is if she put in implants and I don’t think that we’ll ever happen, I mean I want here to be thiccer but safely that won’t be happening any time soon unless a thiccer actress replaces her

Yes it is

And in Captain Americas case his power still relies on his physique.

Superman doesn't require a huge physique and has therefore been unnecessarily hyper-masculated.

Sorry to bug in your conversation but, I think the "problem" is that when comics tries to exagerate masculin traits, it is portrayed as big muscles, which equals power.

And when comics exagerate femenin traits, it is portrayed through big breasts, thin waists, etc, which equals sexy.

So men are empowered and women get objectified.

But do you think this is a thing of the comics? Becasue, maybe this is changing today, with women working to be represented as more than beautiful, but if you think about it, those incredibly musculated bodies male superheroes have, would not work on a female.

So what do you propose, to have girl heroes be smart looking and well proportioned, and keep male heroes the same? Or change everything?

What's next? To have superheroes solve their problems through dialogue?

There's a lot of things to think about.

@buckwheat:

Firstly I personally have no problem with the way things are. Men are not the same as women and women are not the same as men.

I did a marriage enrichment course a little while ago and it talked about how 80% of the time the man feels close to the woman through sexual means whereas 80% of the time the woman feels close to the man through emotional means. So I think it is normal for the woman to bring her body to the table more than the man does. Perhaps we need to balance this with more emotionally intelligent male heroes which will bring more female readers

I am often relieved though, when I don't have to be pounded with sexual imagery and I can enjoy a story for what it is. That's something I liked about the WW live action movie.

The superhuman ones could be voluptuous. The normal human ones probably would make more sense to be less so since boobs get in the way of fighting.

If this was Power Girl and producers hire a less endowed actress I would take issue because Karen’s physique is a significant element of her identity, but for Wonder Woman or Supergirl or Catwoman it doesn’t matter as much.

Anyway, I'm not talking so much about comics. I'm talking of the movies, in which you can see male heroes been more eroticized than women.

I dare anyone here to get me one pic of Black Widow looking something like this:

And I say Back Widow, since she is one of the sexiest female MCU heroes. If you go to Cap Marvel, this is the most you'll get:

No one is complaining about Gal Gadot's boobs. She is 100% sexy.

The boobs in the OP is used as a rhetorical metaphor to illustrate a more complex dilema that evolves around of how men and women's physical sexuality is represented on the seventh art.

@doctornowadays: Your problem is males in movies have more physical similarities to their comic counterpart than woman?

Thats just realistic tho. The male superhero actor looks natural, but you cant be natural looking like wonder woman.

I think it must be something between for both. Women should be busty sexy but not on comics level and not to thin and off like live actions. Men should be Fit and in-shape but not overly masculine or super slim.

I am not sure it really matters. But superhero’s are created to be super on all categories. At the times of their creation, they embodied societies view of the optimal form. It is why the men were absurdly muscular and the women (despite being strong) had frail but voluptuous appearance. I do not oppose live action having a more realistic approach. It never really crossed my mind, but boobs are awesome regardless of the size.

i never liked gal gadot as wonder woman, i was one of those people who thought she lacked the physicality for the role (cause she's just too skinny) and i still do, so nothing really changed.

anyway more boobs would be nice, sure, but it's not as important to me as the overall body-type of the character, which should've been respected... instead i feel like it's being disregarded greatly by going with gal gadot

i know it sounds like some unimportant detail that only some angry nerd would care about, but come on! how can you look at this and say "wonder woman"? clearly they could've done much much better
