I think Notorious BIG would be the more successful artist in terms of album sells since he was the big dawg on Bad Boy Records... Big L was supposed to be signing to Roc A Fella.. but if he did... how could he possibly outshine Jay Z or Kanye West ?

I dont think so. Big L is a very skilled lyrical rapper who doesnt really make a lot of commerical hit songs. Jay Z makes HIT SONGS... that dude is gonna sell and sell hard. Jay Z has 4 Triple Platinum albums and 3 Double Platinum album in the US. You see when it comes to record sales your lyrical skill doesnt mean everything.... I mean why does Lil Wayne sell ? Or P. Diddy ? Or Soulja Boy ? Or Rick Ross ? These guys arent great Rappers ( well IMO ) but they go Platinum cause they make hits

yeah i know a little bit about music trust me but big l had the skill and that stuff, even though nobody really startedto notice him till after he died but any ways he could have done it in my opinion

I dont think he could have. I mean look at it like this then... Nas is a better lyricist than Jay Z and he hasnt outsold Jay Z either...
Big was a moster freestyling so I don't know if I couls say Big L that easy. Popularity is most def Biggie. I was the dude. The only other New York rappers that were making money then were Wu Tang, LL, Naz, and Gravediggaz. Biggie was the one who was bringing hip hop back to the east when the west coast was running shyt. Big L was underground as hell so he wouldn't get enough air play to rival Biggie in terms of success. Freestyling it would be almost even. Biggie is the most quoted rapper in the game(no it's not 2pac) for a reason.
But truthfully there are a lot of very skilled lyrical rappers who dont sell a whole lot of records... Lupe Fiasco, Cassidy, Jadakiss, Mos Def, Talib Kweli.... to name a few. Sure you can say that they dont have the Promotion backing them or they are not on a Major Label... but if Big L was out now... would he really any better chance than some of these other MC to go Platinum these days ? I dont know

I agree with you to some extent. I just dont think all those MCs you named will all be together on the Label. Maybe some of them but not all of them... cause these days guys go Independent cause some of the bigger label are jacking them for dollars
Biggie already had tyhe plans for the Commission to drop when he died. It was gonna be him Jay-Z, The Lox, and DMX. Then he was killed and all heel broke loose. Puffy raped the Lox. Jay-Z was left by himself. None of the real BK MC's got on like M.O.P. Lil Kim went through her issues. I think any real MC would jump at the chance to work with Biggie. He was the best pure MC at the time. I say Pure because he very rarely wrote. Fabolous would have jumped at the chance to work with him. Cassidy wouldn't have been in that bullshyt group he was on in Ruff Ryders. Big Pun might have stayed with Fat Joe, but Money talks, and at the time Joe's money was in the basement. Even his clothing line wasn't selling. Pun and Cuban Link would have jumped ship ASAP. Friendship is one thing, but business is another.

I dont know if it would have all worked out that way though. Cause there is no telling how successful other artists on the label would have actually been then. Remember when Big died everything changed... and a lot of those hot tracks that were produced for Hova would have probably gone to Big since he is still the head honcho
