Best decade in anime?

Either 90s or 2000s

It's all about the late 80's for me then anime just gradually became worst & worst.

Good ones pop up every now & again but for the most part current anime kinda sucks.

90 for shows

80's for movies.

The 90's overall for series and movies, but my heart belongs to 80's anime. It never fails to produce joyous emotions in me. Plus, they were doing things back then that would never be attempted these days.

90's and 2000's have great anime.

Current Anime aside from a few amazing standalone series have been garbage

I've watched more from the 90's and 2000's (what am i supposed to call the decade anyway?), but there is something special about 80's anime to me. I love the art style and designs of the 80's. Plus my favourite anime (SDF Macross) is from that decade. And the beauty of hand drawn anime is something to behold, especially in high quality anime movies like Nausicaa and Macross: DYRL. I'm not a fan of CG in modern anime.

Plus the 80's was the golden age of mecha (following the success of Gundam)

90's gave us some masterpieces, there is no question about that.

00's was a big transitional period and reawakening for anime.

Yes, I put the 2010's over the 80's. Honestly you have no business picking the 80's unless you are a massive Gundam/LOTGH/DB fanboy. The 80's was filled with bad animation and simplistic plots. 2010's haven't been perfect but they haven't been bad.

The only 70's anime I like are Lupin and old school Gundam. Most others I've seen have not aged well.

Current. I'm not a fan of a lot of the old 'masterpieces' if I'm being honest.

• The kid in me would say the Early 2000s with the legendary original toonami run and the early morning Anime Block on Cartoon Network that featured shows like Zoids, Gundam Seed,Transformers: Armada etc...
• But if i,m being honest Anime dosent really have a best decade...The quality has been pretty consistent since the Early 2000s...But i will say this, alot of my all time favorite Animes come from the 90s..Like Cowoboy Bepop, Ninja Scroll,Rurouni Kenshin and Trigun.

The 80s had the best animation and stories and ideas.

There have been a few movies and series since then that have been good, but the 80s had the best.

90's for sure, followed by 00s and 80s

90s. Neon Genesis Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop, Ghost In The Shell etc.

A lot of current anime is a bunch of fan-service that occasionally breaks out into plot.

I'd probably side with the 00's for a majority.

Though Mirai Nikki is still my favorite

I'd also count DBZ in the 90's too. It came out in 89', it belongs more to the 90's than the 80's.

@zetsumoto: I don't mind fan-service, but I'd rather the anime/manga I read have actual plot. If I wanted constant hentai I'd stick solely to doujins.

Currently, we have all the anime of the previous decades plus the new stuff coming out.

2000's no doubt

90s overall.

Bit of roller coaster all things considered, but I guess a good chunk of my favorite shows are from the 00's.
