Poll: Best 3d Fighting game series (26 votes)

Tekken 50%
Dead or Alive 8%
Virtua Fighter 8%
Soul Calibur 19%
Mortal Kombat 12%
Power Stone 0%
Rival Schools 4%
Street Fighter EX 0%
King of Fighters Maximum Impact 0%
Battle Arena Toshinden 0%
Samurai Shodown 0%
Star Gladiator 0%

My vote: Tekken. Accessible yet challenging, it's essentially the 3d world's equivalent to Street Fighter in terms of popularity.

Theoretically, both Tekken and Soul Calibur kinda win since they are in the same continuity

Virtua Fighter doesn't get enough credit.

I miss power stone and Rivals schools.

Tekken is still awesome.

Dead or Alive suffers with balance issues

Soul Calbier needs to stop cuting characters.

Theoretically, both Tekken and Soul Calibur kinda win since they are in the same continuity

You mean company?

Yoshimitsu in Tekken is the future legacy of the Yoshimitsu from Soul Calibur.

So they're in the same continuity in theory, although I don't know if they're any other clear cut connections between the series.

@frogdog: theoretically, virtua fighter wasn't supposed to be a fighting game so much as a martial arts simulator

Virtual Fighter for me. Tekken is probably the most popular but VF was first and obviously inspired Tekken. DOA isn't too bad either, I know a pro DOA player personally cool guy Swoozie. He got me into DOA a litlte bit but I prefer 2D fighters over 3D overall. One game I liked that's not on the list was Beatorizer/Bloody Roar series.
