Dream job?

My dream job used to be to become an actor, but now it's probably to become a singer/songwriter. Unfortunately I'm gonna be stuck in a boring-ass lawyer job for the rest of my life lmao. You?

Ever played kotor?

Nah. Heard a lot of great things about it, though.

Star wars fan?

Can't say I am! I really like A New Hope, Empire and TFA, but the rest of the movies are mediocre at best (Solo, Rogue One, Rise of Skywalker) and awful at worst (Return of The Jedi, the prequels). I used to be, though. And I loved the LEGO games like everyone else did.

well for me it is a software firm but I don't have enough infrastructure yet.

rogue one was amazing and Rots was too. What was wrong with those?

What do you think of Ruin Johnson and jar jar Abrams destroying star wars?

Rogue One was really dull and I wasn't able to invest in any of the characters TBH. Darth Vader scene was cool, though.

As for RoTS, are you talking about Rise of Skywalker or Revenge of The Sith?

What do you think of Ruin Johnson and jar jar Abrams destroying star wars?

I initially held a lot of dislike for Rian because of what he did with The Last Jedi, but I've forgiven him. Knives Out was a masterpiece.

I don't think much of Abrams ruining Star Wars, because he didn't. Johnson already ruined it with TLJ. I don't blame Abrams too much for the way Rise of Skywalker turned out, because TLJ is so difficult to make a good sequel for.

@theamazingspidey: revenge of the sith.

The dialogue and acting are awful. Sure, it's the best of the prequels, but only by comparison, lol.

Watched a few episodes of Mandalorian. I liked what I saw, but not enough to keep going, y'know? I have no opinion of the Kenobi series. I'll probably check out a few episodes and then quit lol.

@theamazingspidey: I am one of those that enjoyed the prequels. rots was like the empire of prequels. I loved every moment except Anakin and padme moments.

So baby Yoda is not cute enough to keep watching? I will watch him flapping his ears for 10 hours rather than a picosecond of the sequels lol

Glad you liked the prequels. You definitely aren't alone in that. And it seems they only gain more fans and supporters as the years go across!

Afraid not lol. But I'd definitely rather watch Mando than watch TLJ or Rise of Skywalker.

@mrmonster:

1. Favorite Western movie?

Western is probably my least explored genre. If I had to pick one, I'd pick The Revenant (assuming that counts, IDK). Is there one you would recommend?

Favorite "Based on a true story" movie?

The Irishman. It's up for debate whether the story is actually true, but it still counts.

Favorite Pixar movie?

The Incredibles remains unbeaten! There was a period of time, when I was much younger, where I would watch that movie almost every day.

Best place you've ever gone on a trip?

I've been lucky enough to vacation to a lot of amazing places. My favourite was Venice!

On a scale of 1-10, how crazy are you going in quarantine (if you are self-quarantining)?

Not crazy at all. I've basically been doing what I'd be doing otherwise, except I've been watching more movies and gotten back into ComicVine. I definitely think quarantine has been pretty bad for my mental health.

Ever played The Wolf Among Us? If so, what'd you think?

Can't say I have. But when it came out a few years ago, I was super interested in playing it. Unfortunately, that time has passed and I barely play video games. There's only a select few video games I'm interested in playing.

Favorite LA Batman?

Ben Affleck gave the best performance, but Bale's Batman was the more fleshed out character, thus I felt more attached to his incarnation. I have a strong feeling Pattinson will become the best.

I don't care for Keaton, Kilmer or Clooney.

Favourite TV shows?

Community, Breaking Bad, Atlanta, Spectacular Spider-Man, Avengers: EMH, Daredevil and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. I must be missing SOMETHING.

I'm currently watching The Office and I'm enjoying it.

Favourite Bond actor and film?

My favourite bond film is Casino Royale. The only Bond films I've seen are the Craig and Connery ones, and I didn't care for the Connery ones, so Craig is my favourite!

Most anticipated movie of 2020(assuming it still comes out in 2020)?

Assuming it still comes out, my most anticipated is easily Tenet, but I'm pretty sure it won't hit it's intended release date.

Well, even if you've lost interest by now, I'd definitely recommend TWAU. Whilst it has some problems (it can be buggy sometimes and the gameplay is never particularly challanging), the story, voice acting, art style and atmosphere are all so damn brilliant that it's legit one of my all time favourite games.

If I ever get back into video games, I might check it out! Right now, the only games I'm moderately interested in playing are Cyberpunk 2077, TLoU2 and The Avengers. And I might get around to playing Red Dead 2 sometime.

Unfortunately, my PS4 is broken so IDEK how I'm gonna play these games lol. Might have to pull out the Xbox.

  1. That's gotta be either Bong Joon-Ho's Parasite, or Respire, directed by Melanie Laurent (who played Shosanna in Inglorious Basterds). Parasite is the more impressive movie overall, but Respire packs the stronger emotional punch. Few movies have endings that impacted me as much as that one. Let The Right One In and Pan's Labyrinth are also fantastic!
  2. Maybe his performance as Patrick Bateman. I know a lot of people would give me shit for this, but I've never been "wowed" by a Bale performance.
  3. Definitely a dog person. Cats intimidate the shit out of me lol. My sister had one for a week or two and it made my life miserable. You?

Oh yes, they got along perfectly. I don't know why our dog gets along so well with our cats (especially since she tries to kill every squirrel and bird that wanders into our backyard) but she does.

I can't choose. It's like picking my favourite child lol. I've thought about trying to rank them before and I still might getting around to doing it, but I feel like I wouldn't even be able to do it.

Which film do you think will be better: WW84 or Black Widow?

WW84. That Black Widow trailer was underwhelming as hell.

Thoughts on Kristen Bell?

Don't know anything about her as a person, but I never cared for her acting.

Fave album of the 2010s?

Hey!

That’s almost EXACTLY how I would rank them! I would only swap TASM2 and SM3 by a hair. Also, you have Spider-Man at #4 and #8. I’m assuming it was just a typo. :)

I think this may become a good friendship off of that ranking alone!

Next question: Who are your top 3 favorite superheroes?

Oops! Made a bit of a typo haha. Fixed. Thanks for pointing it out!

@theamazingspidey: I assumed Spider-Man would be one of yours. Haha. I love Batman, but I’ve never really related to him. I think he’s a fantastic character but he’s just never clicked with me personally.

Mine would be Spider-Man, and the Flash (both Barry and Wally). Spider-Man is and always will be my favorite. There’s so much morality and depth to his character, and I’ve always connected with him.

Next question: What is one thing you have a lot of nostalgia for? It can be of any media, whether movies, tv, books, video games, etc.

Agreed. I also think it's crazy that, for such a "light" comic book character, Spider-Man has one of the darkest origin stories. He is partly responsible for the death of his loved one, which can't be said for most superheroes, even the grittier ones like Batman! It makes his origin and motivation even more powerful.

Next question: What is one thing you have a lot of nostalgia for? It can be of any media, whether movies, tv, books, video games, etc.

Great question! There are a lot of answers to this, so I'll just list a few:

  1. Reading 1984 for the first time.
  2. The Infinity Saga of the MCU. I know the MCU will continue producing more movies, but it just won't be the same.
  3. Listening to Kanye West's The Life of Pablo for the 1st time. That was when I properly got into music.
  4. Smallville. Simpler times. I started watching it on my own, then my brother got into it, and then before I realised it, my whole family was into it!
  5. Community. Even though the later seasons weren't as strong, it was still a really special show to me.
  6. Lana Del Rey's music gets me pretty nostalgic too.
  7. Little Big Planet. I remember once staying up till 6AM playing it with my brother and sister.

But I don't know if anything gets me as nostalgic as playing Assassin's Creed and Metal Gear Solid. Especially cause it reminds me of when my brother lived with me.

Like I said, I'm sure there's about 100 things that make me nostalgic, but those are the big ones I could remember :)

Lol! Heck yeah I love Billie! She’s EASILY the best modern female artist imo. The lyrics and melodies in her songs are insanely good, and she’s not just a good artist, but a good role model.

I’ll ask some more questions!

Next question: What do you think is the best, worst, most underrated, and most overrated MCU film(s).

Here are mine:

- Best: The Winter Soldier. I don’t think I really need to give a reason why.

- Worst: Iron Man 2. The only good things in the movie is RDJ and the suitcase suit.

- Underrated: Doctor Strange. I think it’s one of the best origin stories not just in the MCU but in CBM. It’s up there with Spider-Man, Iron Man, and Batman Begins when it comes to origin stories.

- Overrated: Black Panther. It’s a good movie, but several people consider it as one of the MCU’s best and I don’t really think it makes the top ten.

Also, I think I should also do my favorite because there’s a difference in favorite and best.

Anywho,

Favorite: Endgame. The first half is a little slow, but the third act is some of the best 45 minutes of a movie I’ve ever seen.

Hard agree! She's my favourite artist of all time! And as you mentioned, she also seems like a genuinely good person.

Next question: What do you think is the best, worst, most underrated, and most overrated MCU film(s).

Oooh great question.

  1. Best: The best MCU film IMO is Avengers: Infinity War. The fact the filmmakers managed to juggle dozens of characters, while simultaneously telling a compelling story and establishing one of the most iconic villains in cinematic history is nothing short of astonishing. And I know a lot of people miss it, but the movie also manages to explore themes, and I even wrote a blog about it. I genuinely believe it is one of the most impressive scripts in mainstream movie history.
  2. Worst: The Incredible Hulk. It is so painfully dull and unlikeable. It's probably the only MCU film I actively dislike. The rest are just "meh" at worst and outstanding at best.
  3. Most Underrated: Iron Man 3. A lot of people genuinely hate the movie, whereas I genuinely thought it was the best Iron Man movie and a compelling character story. I also wrote a blog about Iron Man 3 if you'd like to read more about why I loved it so much!
  4. Most Overrated: Maybe Avengers: Endgame. I loved it the first time I watched it and it's still probably in my top 10 MCU movies, but I feel like the Russo's could've done a much better job with this finale. I hated what they did with Thor, the humour in the movie wasn't as organic as in the other Russo films, and I absolutely despised the portrayal of Thanos lol. I still enjoy it and get why it's so beloved, so I generally wouldn't like to use the word "overrated", but since you asked, that's my pick :)

- Overrated: Black Panther. It’s a good movie, but several people consider it as one of the MCU’s best and I don’t really think it makes the top ten.

Black Panther is in my top 5 haha. I guess we're starting to find out some of the differences between us xx

Interesting. I understand all of those. I actually agree with IW being the best, but the reason I chose TWS is because I feel like IW isn’t a complete movie without Endgame. Honestly I see those movies as one big six hour movie.

As for IM3, I think that it’s a contender for most underrated also. The only thing that holds it back is the third act imo.

I’m definitely gonna check out those blogs!

I know it might feel like that because we, as viewers, knew there would be a Part II and that the heroes would reign victorious when all is said and done, but when you put that expectation aside, I'd argue Infinity War is just as complete as any Marvel movie! The premise of the movie is about Thanos trying to gather the 6 stones and eradicate half of the universe, and the movie ends with Thanos obtaining the stones and eradicating half-of the universe. It has a beginning, middle and end :)

I’m definitely gonna check out those blogs!

Hope you enjoy xx

Harry Potter used to scare the shit out of me, man. Especially Dobby. Couldn't stand that little shit. Eventually, I grew a pair and watched the movies, and Prisoner of Azkaban is my favourite. I also read the second book. I also got to visit the Harry Potter studio tour at London, 7 years ago, which was a dope experience. Wouldn't call myself a fan though!

No I actually haven’t, but I’ve heard nothing but great things! It’s got a great cast!

In that case, that would absolutely be my recommendation! It's my favourite movie of all time, JK Simmons and Miles Teller are fantastic, is super intense and funny at the same time, and it's a movie that leaves you thinking. Please check it out!

@theamazingspidey: Awesome!! It sounds amazing! I’ll have to check it out!

Now my movie recommendation is quite a different type of movie. Hahaha.

So, let me ask,

Have you seen Pixar’s Onward?

I had no idea going into that movie how much I would like it. I have thought so much about it since the night I watched it. The emotion Pixar portrays through animated characters astonishes me and they certainly have done that again in Onward.

The characters are great! They’re funny, relatable, and actually have a lot of depth. The story is a ton of fun. It does drag a bit in the middle, but considering how great it’s first and third acts are I never got bored. I’d even go as far as to say it’s one of my top 5 Pixar films and we both know how great of movies Pixar makes.

Yes, I’m recommending the movie for all the reasons above, but I’m recommending it specifically because you talked about your brother earlier and that’s the main reason why it moved me the way it did. I’m an older brother and have always been super close with my siblings. Onward moved me because it’s a story of two brothers. Two brothers who love, care, laugh, fight, and cry together. It’s a beautiful representation brothers and of a family.

If you get a chance, check it out! It’s on Disney +. :)

Damn... I love the fact you gave me a personalised recommendation based on what I said about myself earlier, as opposed to just recommending any random movie you liked! For that reason, I'll check it out. I have Disney+ so it will be easy for me to watch!

@theamazingspidey: Cool!

Next recommendation question: What is one video game/video game series you would recommend?

To help you out a bit, I own a PS4 and a Switch. Also, I don’t like turn-based strategy games. Hahaha

Ooooh... there are a couple of video games I could recommend. You might've already played this considering it's pretty big, but have you played The Last of Us?

In that case, I'd recommend the Metal Gear Solid games instead :)

I've played the Uncharted games! I loved 2 and 3. Can't say I've played Celeste though.
