I know that dubbed anime is usually looked down upon, and to be fair a lot of dubbed anime is indeed pretty poorly done. But does anyone think there's any dubbed Anime where the dubbing is actually good? Just curious.
The Spice and Wolf dub is vastly superior to the subs. Holo has a very distinct way of speaking, that you just won't pick up on if you're listening to the Japanese version.
Honestly, the people who talk about subs being "better" just like feeling special and "cultured". To a native Japanese speaker, I'm sure Japanese VA sounds just as cringy and unnatural as English VAs sound to us.
Noticed no one's mentioned Sailor Moon yet. Is the dubbing in that any good? Been almost 20 years since I've seen it, so my memory on the dubbing is obviously not good.
Cowboy Bebop comes to mind. Honestly, there's quite a few that I felt were well done. FMA, Baccano!, Psycho-Pass, Fate:Zero, Code:Geass. There are a few characters in each that may suck but overall I felt like all were well done.
Usually whatever sounds better between dubbed or subbed is whatever version I heard first. I prefer subbed now, since the handful of times I’ve seen an anime in both dubbed and subbed, I’ve come away with different impressions of character personalities due to the voice acting involved. So I’d rather see subbed. However YYH and DBZ are two examples where I prefer the dubbed.
It may be looked down on but anime dubs have been fairly good the past 10-12 years specifically because of haters and because of popularity in the US, it may be a dirty secret but way more US viewers watch dubs then they would ever admit. There have been some bad ones in recent years though like Demon Slayer, I can't stomach some of the voices, especially Tanjirou blegh.

I actually prefer dubs to subs, but it's mostly because English is just my native language and I prefer to watch in English is all. That being said, I only take the dub if the only difference between the dub and sub is the language. If there are any changes to the script, characterizations, censorship, etc. I will watch the sub.
But I can also understand why people prefer subs, as many times it's not possible to accurately translate everything into an English dub and the story is just best understood in Japanese. And even if a dub is accurate, sometimes dialogue can just be more impactful because of the way it was said in the original Japanese, even if there's no major difference translation-wise.
