New York and LAC will definitely be the teams to watch out for this season. NY has two great guards in Bibby and Davis, and Iman Shumpert is a good PG too, I'm looking forward to seeing him play this season. They also have Melo, Chandler, and Stoudamire. LA has Paul, Griffin, Billups, Butler, and Bledsoe. Both of those teams are stacked.
Bibby is not a Great Guard.

Maybe I should rephrase that. They have two solid guards in Bibby and Davis.
Bibby was the man on the Kings.Ok in ATL. I don't know what happened to him. As far as the Knicks they aren't a good defensive team. I don't think anyone doubts their ability to put the ball in the net. They have a bunch of amazing scorers but I don't think they will be any better this season than the last. They have a fairly good starting 5.Baron Davis and Melo are two of my favs but D'Antoni needs to either teach them defense or pick up some defensive players.@Vance Astro said:
@cascadeking09 said:Bibby sucks.@Sexy Merc: Bibby is still a sharp shooter though. I'm not saying that either of them are all-stars, but they would be good for the team and they've got fresh talent with Shumpert.
Preseason doesn't mean anything, usually the toughest teams don't end up on top.
I don't know about that, but I'm inclined to agree sine he's no longer with Atl.

I don't think the Bulls have anything to worry about, or the Heat, Or Boston. They may be 4th seed this season but that's only because the other teams in the conference are trash.Maybe the Magic will get their -ish together when the season starts.Either way I don't think anyone is looking at the Knicks as a finals contender.New York and LAC will definitely be the teams to watch out for this season. I can't really say for sure that they'll be good team, but the east isn't as tough as the west, so I'm not sleepin on them.
I'm not doubting that the Lakers will probably have a good season but in the playoffs I don't see things going well. If they are ranked high, of course they will get passed the first round because whomever they end up playing will be hanging on by a thread. 2nd round I don't see them doing well. I don't see a FINALS team here anymore. The Lakers used to have solid bench players and a good starting 5...now the bench is a joke and the starting 5 is all over the place. Artest needs to step up,Fish needs to step up. He's had better seasons with LA than last season.@Vance Astro: The Lakers are solid, just because they are not the sexy team anymore because the Clips got CP3 doesn't mean they are over the hill. DFish is and has always been solid. I'm not going to sit here and say he is as good as the top PGs but he brings something none of those other PGs have, toughness and the ability to hit shots and make plays when it counts. Yea the P&R defense was a problem but I can't blame DFish for that. He was great defending the P&R in Utah and the PJ led Lakers have always had problems w/the P&R. It didn't matter if you had someone slow, strong, young, old or fast, our P&R philosophy on def was horrible under PJ. Also Steve Blake is good for what he is, a backup that can start occasionally and knock down the 3. Can't have All-Stars in every position.
As long as the Lakers have Kobe, Bynum & Gasol healthy and more importantly, in the right state of mind, they should still be one of the top contenders. It's horrible that we lost LO but imo we neither got better or worst on the bench from the last 2 years. Before we had a super sub but not much else, this year we have a bunch of good role players but no super sub.

Chicago > Miami
IMO, Chicago is overated. They have a team that's not really built for the playoff. They remind me of the AI's 76er team. Offensively they just are not good enough to get past those elite teams. Rose is the real deal though.
Lakers will lose early in the playoffs again. They have no bench and who knows how long Bynum can stay healthy plus Kobe getting up in age, not to mention they have PG issues.

Agreed^^
@Vance Astro: The "experts" have been saying those things about the Lakers forever but yet they still win. Every team has a long list of weaknesses but I don't think there's a team out there w/the strength the Lakers have which has been proven to win. The combo of Bynum & Gasol on the inside. Oh that Kobe fellow too I guess.
Unfortunately when Gasol gets soft like he did vs the Celtics & during the end of last year then we become just another team. Hopefully Gasol will have a good year, if he does then I really don't see anyone that can stop those 2 7 footers.
Unless of course there's injuries but every team can have injuries. Boozer, Tyson Chandler & Camby are all due to go down this year. It's impossible for them to go through multiple seasons w/o suffering injuries that will sideline them for months if not the entire season.
Gasol will be Gasol which means he will continue to be soft...Bynum cannot stay healthy and Metta World Peace has done nothing for the Lakers. Notto mention no bench, PG who is old and a banged up Kobe with a head coach who sucks. He could not win in Cleveland and they was a 60 win team 2 yrs in a row.

ok
@King Saturn:
Defensively hes solid
Offensively hes one of the best players off the ball. He works screens well, make great cuts in the open lanes and hes a really good shooter.....
yeah that sounds about right@King Saturn:

The game shouldn't have been that close.Lakers didn't have Bynum.
They did have Kobe though so that makes up for it.
No it doesn't.Kobe can't do it alone..obviously.@Vance Astro said:

It was also the first game of the season with little training so Chicago came off their game a little bit. Its ok its the first game. Plus a win is a win regardless.
They have basically the same team they just got a new 2 guard....a win is a win regardless but things would have been different had Bynum played. It was also the first game of the season with little training so Chicago came off their game a little bit. True.
Golden State playing good defense so far agains the Clippers. I like how Mark Jackson is getting them away from the run and gun style. Defense wins championships not offense. Warriors could become a threat in the future.
They still got Iguodala, Elton Brand old azz still there. They got couple of good young players (Young, Williams, Holiday)

maybe... I am thinking 30 pts 10 reb 7 ast would be a good statline for him.@King Saturn: I think he's more likely to average 10 assists.
Golden State don't know what Defense is... lolYou know if the Warriors played defense they be a top 4 team in the west.

Marc Jackson is trying to mould that into their heads.

@Mr. Smiths: They actually did pretty well defensively in the first half.
Yeah they doing good defensive wise so far. And Sixers only down by 4 at halftime not bad and Lakers not playing good basketball at all.
