Around this time last year, we announce we'd be working with the great Grant Morrison (The Multiversity, Joe the Barbarian, We3, Action Comics, too many to name!) on a new title. Now, as part of our ramp-up to San Diego Comic-Con, we are excited to announce that project!
Klaus is an all-ages fantasy epic starring one of the most well-known figures in the world, re-created for an audience raised on superheroes like Batman, Thor, and Iron Man. This is the story of how Santa Claus really began, drawing on his wilder roots in Viking lore and Siberian shamanism: What was he like when he was young? Why does he do what he does? And what happens when he faces his greatest challenge?
Klaus will feature interior art and main covers byDan Mora (Hexed) and is set to debut in November. More details to follow in the weeks ahead!
Grant Morrison Comes to BOOM! With KLAUS
@mr__kamikaze: Maybe he was cursed by the Elves?
I'm not a grant Morrison fan (yeah I know it's sacrilegious) but this looks really cool
i don't either except this looks awful and further confirms my dislike
@zombietag: It looks awesome! Maybe it's based on the Santa that fought Lobo. Lol
Sometimes i think Grant Morrison get's high watching kids movies and then does his own twists on their concepts. This sounds like his take on the bad ass santa from Rise of the Guardians
I wonder how Mrs.Claus look like
Anyone remember that old horror movie of that evil homicidal Santa (man in a Santa mask?) that had a teacher and her class (who were on a field trip?) trapped in some cave or something...
That is what this reminds me of.
"All ages" so here's a drawing of your favorite holiday jolly man splattered in blood with his trusty bloody mouth drenched wolf and Rudolph strapped to his back like an ornament lol gonna buy this for my 3 year old haha
Only Grant could think of this.
Eh, nope. New twist, but badass Santa has been done and so has his origin.
Santa Claus, a gold mine of potential for stories and none other than Grant Morrison is the one who makes this a reality(honestly nothing makes me happier). Reading the description along with interviews with Grant has made me beyond stoked for this. Also there's something about the fact that he conceived this idea when writing all star superman, i guess that optimistic mindset just begot this great idea.
@ultimatepower6: mate it's ok I get it, you do need to be tripping all kinds of balls in prouder to understand the basic plot lines in most of morrisons work.
The cover is hardly all ages and compared to Morrison's other work, a Viking Santa Claus is rather tame. Still, the art looks much better than artists Grant has worked with recently, the Big Two are really losing my interest with their current comics and a warrior Santa sounds like a ridiculously fun premise. But I'm still waiting for news on why Wonder Woman: Earth One has yet to be published.
