well i live in cairns and its a huge city but there is only one comic store and its sooooooooo small but im still grateful just to have a comic book store but still it does have quite a few graphic novels.
I started going there when I realized they were there, and I didn't have to go to Barnes and Noble for my graphic novels. When I started going there, I wasn't very knowledgeable; they've always been helpful in steering me towards books I'd like.
I'm on a name basis with the four guys that work there. Sometimes I go there to get some small talk with my books; sometimes I go just to tell them what I'm liking so they can get me hooked on something new. They're all pretty awesome guys -- they've saved my butt with a discount when I was strapped for cash more than once, let me borrow from their personal collections, and I even game on Xbox Live with a few of them. Heck, since they're getting a lease on a new store later this year, they told me to drop a resume if I wanted to join the team.
Even the customers are friendly. Every once in a while, someone'll ask what's good, and me and several other customers'll chime in with opinions with the comic store dudes.
They have a huge selection of novels, manga, toys, statues, apparel, and novelties to boot. But it's all about the people and atmosphere for me.
They always steer towards something I'm on the edge of buying. The place is kinda cramped because they have shelves and shelves of stuff in the aisles. That's my MD comics for ya.
It's messy, doesn't have a good selection of trades, especially ones of more than three years old, has tonnes of recent comics but always seem to sell out of X-titles........

It's the organization that pisses me off. Especially when it takes me ages to find something, or that, having made my trip, I find out that they don't actually have it......
Then again, it is a very busy store.
On the plus side they have good prices on the trades and hardcovers that they do have.
I have to drive to Endfield for my comics and theres two stores there and they're both pretty good. The one i go to to get most of my comics has almost every trade in that is still in print great old comic selection, the only downside is he seems to run out of comics sometimes so i go to the other store to pick up any other comics I still need. Also when i went there around christmas me and my dad both got a free graphic novel.
Mine is quite resourceful and has a lot of good comics. 99.99% of the time I have been in, the comic I want has been there. I'm talking of course about...the Forbidden Planet.
but if their a trade I need I go cross town to Comic Heaven , most of the guys there are ok but this one guy is a complete ass who depises helping you out
