Poll Would you murder an innocent human being to acquire Supermans powers? (445 votes)
It has to be someone you've never seen before, a randomer.

No way.
@undefined: lol no I don't like supes power sets.
No way.
Yeah, cause I could just turn back time so the person is still alive like Supes has done in the silver age.
While I'd love to project a mini super-man powered version of myself I'll have to pass on the murder part
I would because I know there would be people who also would but use that power for evil. Someone has to fight them. I'll make that sacrifice.
The good I could do using my powers would far outweigh one innocent death. Then again, I'd probably just be corrupted by that much power anyway.
@valorknight: Well at the risk of sounding preachy, if you are willing to let an innocent man die for personal gain, you will never be much of a hero. Plus it's possible to still do a lot of good without possessing the powers of Superman.
@valorknight: Regardless, anyone who takes an innocent life for powers is not heroic in my book. I mean, I am all for the 'needs of the many' philosophy, but that is only when the problem is really really dire with no alternatives. That still doesn't mean I would just take a life though.
At least, that's how I look at it.
@valorknight: Fair enough.
Without a moments hesitations. The good and justice that can be done with that power far outweighs one mans life. His sacrifice would be remembered. I am not saying I would not have my doubts or guilty feelings after the fact but yes I would. Because for those who are saying "It would have to be a dire circumstance" or the like. You are arguing semantics. You are playing the crowd to appear kind and heroic but you are looking for an excuse.

The guy has to stay dead.
how does the guy have to die? Are we talking pushing him onto a train track or are we talking beating him to death with a hammer?
Also yes. I'll then go to jail willingly for 100 years
No because we all know that with Greater Powers comes an entire rogue gallery of super powered villains.
Basically, murder someone that you don't know, someone that you just randomly saw, right? There's a very huge difference between that and someone who's truly innocent (e.g. it could turn out that you murdered a killer who's on the FBI most wanted list or should have been).
But, no for me, as it sounds like something that you get from making a deal with the dark side; sounds too demonic in nature; I'm as far away from that as the east is from the west; I get my powers from God and Heavenly things.
As a Unitarianist, this is basically a altered version of the train argument- actively kill one person to save five. It's moral as long as you use those new found powers to save countless more in the future. Saving thousands more than makes up for it.
@stalin-is-steel: One life does not equal another. But I agree that doing good with the powers means it is a fair trade off. One person dies that you may save millions if not billions of people later including the possibility of that person's loved ones. Someone who they would have given their lives to save anyway.
It's tempting that i chose "yes" but im not really sure if im really going to do it. Its just something that i dont want to do. Killing somebody is something i never thought of. Theres no harm in choosing "yes" anyway.
I would.
With these powers I could save billions.
Society would become far more prosperous.
Almost over night there would be no more energy crisis, far less pollution, far less wars.
I could throw all the garbage into the sun.
I could build human colonies on other planets and moons, and make sure humanity becomes a multi-planet species, thus ensuring it's survival.
I could explore the entire galaxy, who knows what kind of advances would that bring.
I would have enough resources to fund whichever scientific endeavour I would like.
I could go to space and bring back asteroids like this one : https://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/nation-now/2017/01/18/nasa-planning-mission-asteroid-worth-10000-quadrillion/96709250/
I would not kill a person to save 2 others or even 10, but billions, damn sure I would.
Depends on how ''innocent'' is he.
If it`s bully or someone disgusting ofc without even thinking
If it`s really innocent no , hell no
