Poll Would you have accepted Dwayne Johnson for a DCEU Bane? (42 votes)
Imagine if, instead of being given the role of Black Adam, Dwayne Johnson instead landed the role of Bane in the DCEU. Would you be accepting of this?

@nn5: Perhaps not, but it's probable that the DCEU will try to do it's own Bane some day, whether we like the idea of him being recast or not.
@shroudofsorrow: Recast it's not a problem, just saying Johnson isn't the right person.
@nn5: Fair enough.
@skywalker95: You don't think the Rock is a good actor?
He’d be more physically imposing than Hardy. But his acting skills just isn’t good enough.
@skywalker95: You don't think the Rock is a good actor?
Not really. But he is only decent enough for action films.
Honestly if they ever redo bane it would nice to get a Spanish or Latino actor in the role.

He's not a terrible actor, he just needs more dramatic roles to test himself. Out of all his films, the only performance of his I've been impressed by (and the one he's received the most praise for) is his first turn as Hobbs in Fast Five. He was great in the role, very menacing, serious and badass. Since then, he's become more of a comic relief character in those films, which is a massive shame.
I still have my doubts over whether he'll deliver as Black Adam. Hope I'm wrong tho.
Have someone more talented dub over his lines but still have his physicality and body, would be a much better fit
@skywalker95: Fair enough.
Honestly, the DCEU is a lost cause right now. They wouldn't lose anything by casting him
I don't know, I thought WW and Shazam were both pretty great. Former's one of my favorite CBMs of all time actually.
@shroudofsorrow: Come to think of it, there is another performance of Dwayne's that I've been impressed by. In ''Faster'', he plays a man, referred only to as '' Driver'', who seeks to avenge his brother's murder. It's one of his few dramatic roles and he did a great job.
Have you seen it?
@skywalker95: he had like 10 lines in that movie. He just shot and killed people so wronged him.

He had more than 10 lines so stop exaggerating. Besides that isn't the point, the pain and emotion that he'd felt throughout the whole film was really good and realistic.
@skywalker95: guess our tastes differ

All I really want is a Bane who can speak Spanish and can do a heavy Spanish accent.
Yes! Why don't we have this already?
@skywalker95: Alas, no. I had never even heard of it until now.

Makes no sense for him to have a heavy Spanish accent to even begin with. He spent more than a decade alone in a hole with no contact with anyone. That period covers his childhood and teenage years and then he met Bird who taught him English and then he started learning other languages.
I think Dave Bautista has greater range than Johnson so if we're going with a wrestler than I'd prefer Dave. Still, I think the Batmythos is on the cusp of washing its hands off the DCEU entirely. Batman and Joker have already moved on and Birds of Prey's struggle at the box office could prove to be the final nail in that coffin. They'll keep Harley in Suicide Squad and potentially for a team up flick with Ivy but that's about it and even those depend on how Suicide Squad does.
@entropy_aegis: He grew up in Puerto Rico so if he doesn’t have a Spanish accent, what accent is he going to have? It doesn’t matter if he spent 10 years in isolation. After that he went right back to being with native Puerto Rican’s. Afterwards he learns many languages, but that is no reason to lose your native accent.
@the_hajduk: It's Santa Prisca not Puerto Rico. SP is a fictional country modelled on Cuba and North Korea.
After that period of isolation he went to Bird, an American gangster who taught him English and how to read and write. I dont care if he has the accent or not but him not having it would be perfectly logical.
