No, super unnecessary. Just leave Lex alone, use Lena or Tess. They've both had some really cool stuff done with them outside the comics if a baseline is necessary.

Why change an already existing character? If you're looking at comics, you can just have a female equivalent from an alternate universe. having a multiverse lets you asspull things like that. Randomly changing things about a character that's already been around and been established is what angers fans, especially when it goes against a characters character. You could even do shit like that in the movies.

To answer the question, it would depend on how they do it. Replace current Lex? Nah. Have a female version of Lex travel to the main universe? Sure. You could even get a nifty story out of it.
