Would MCU Cap still have been taken seriously if he kept his theatre suit?
He'd have been taken seriously because of how much hurt he laid down, but he wouldn't have gotten nearly the amount of respect.
I couldn't even take his Avengers suit seriously, let alone that.
Imagine him fighting Thanos in that thing
He is still going to shield bash Thanos
@macleen: At least he won't look like a cosplayer doing it
I couldn't take any superheroes' costume seriously regardless of how elaborate or dark-looking they are. Not even the Dark Knight trilogy's Batman costumes.
What about MCU Iron Man's suits?
The suit looked bad, and regardless of how much of a threat Steve is, it's hard to take someone seriously when they look like that.

Nope. Too shiny and colorful to boot.
If someone were to ask "why", its the nature of costumes. To take something seriously in my own context is to treat that subject matter like its real life with stakes to lose. A soldier's outfit and business suit is something I would take seriously.
For example, Iron Man's suits as mentioned still had the comic book impression, and while the Dark Knight trilogy's costumes tries as best as possible to remove themselves from the comic book impression, ultimately they still had to put the pointless Bat-ears and Cat-ears on Batman and Catwoman respectively.

Hawkeye?

Hawkeye?
Damn! I totally forgot about this guy. Poor MCU Hawkeye.
He has a beard now. As far I'm concerned he can wear whatever he wants now.
The suit looks hilarious though.
No. I mean I have a hard time taking Hawkeye seriously...I mean if Jemery Riener wasn’t such an incredible actor and really dedicated to the role it would be almost impossible. They still have never nailed down a great Hawkeye Costume. Some of them have been good, but never great. Cap has some amazing costumes his WS Costume and Age of Ultron Costume we’re both really good.
No he looks like an idiot.
Lol no I laughed so much at his Avengers suit this is worse
