Would a R-rated movie work for Wonder Woman?
I think a good Wonder Woman can happen with an R-rating. Some of her fight can be pretty violent and epic, like the fight with Medusa in the comic and in the animated movie.
That being say, they would not do that as she is a feminism icon that can sell toys to little girls. So from a profit stand point, there no reason for them to go rated-r.
Could it work, sure.
However, it is not needed.
There are some heroes better off with R ratings, Punisher, Ghostrider, or maybe even Batman depending on the plot and villain.
Most though are fine in a PG-13 movie.
Not a WW story, though. She's a side character in it, and a villain if anything considering she... ya know... murders a bunch of kids.

That's my point, her stuff could be rated R. She herself can be very brutal whether its for good or bad. Most of the time when she is brutal it is cause she is evil, but there's no reason to think her villains couldn't that evil if they wanted to. I think the entire thing is possible would I push for it? Prolly not she doesn't need to be, but it can happen
The comics support R rated Wonder woman. Rape of Amazons by Hercules and men, hardcore BDSM and lesbian sex, Horrors of war, Greek mythology but it can damage Wonder Woman brand too if not done properly.
It could, depending on the content.
Also depends on whether if its a R-rated series for its time before it being not-so over time.
