From Cartoons, Anime and LA shows, which show/shows had dissapointing endings that ruined the show?

For me personally, HIMYM's ending ruined the show for me tbh..

Smallville was painfully disappointing. Waited 10 seasons to see him become Superman and didn't even show us a full-body shot of him in the suit.

Dexter. But to be fair, everything after season 4 was a letdown.

@theamazingspidey: I understand that, but it didn’t bother me, granted I watched the whole 10 seasons in 8 months so it wasn’t like I devoted 10 years of my life and not get to see the final product. Also going into the show I knew he never officially became Superman so I wasn’t expecting anything like that.

Personally I would have to say GOT, it's not the worst ending to a show ever but it was such a heavily disappointment that it completely ruined the joy I had watching the show. I can't even watch previous seasons with happiness anymore knowing how the show ends it really ruined one of my favorite shows of all time.

How I met your mother. I invested so much time into watching it and got attached to the characters and got giddy like a little school girl after seeing the mother for the first time. But then the ending came and it felt like a sucker punch to my liver. Tracy was such a great character but they threw her out the window for a ted and robin ending. Such a big letdown.

Lost ending was very disappointing for me, also How I met your mother (the last season was for nothing)

It should've had 20 more episodes as well and competent writing

I watched it across a couple of months too, but I became invested in the idea of him suiting up and the fact it never came really disappointed me. That should be the pay-off moment, and it didn't happen. Missed opportunity IMO.

Sons of Anarchy. Game of Thrones. HIMYM. I'd say the The Killing too. Dexter didn't bother me as much as others.

I pretend the alternate HIMYM ending is the legit one. The real ending is the biggest FU I have ever seen. GoT ending was disappointing. I wasn't big on Prison Break's ending (haven't seen the reboot season). I'm sure I'm forgetting some.

Game of Thrones. Not sure I've been overly disappointed by the ending of any other show tbh, granted most of my shows are still going.

I don't know why people was dissapointed in Dexter's ending tbh. I found it really good. That show know how to end it on a cliffhanger..

I was disappointed with how rushed the GoT finale was, but I was okay with all the plot points (except for Jaime).

How I Met Your Mother is definitely the most angry I’ve been at a TV finale

HIMYM to some degree but mostly because i didn't want it to end

the last season of GOT was atrocious

sense 8 because it was cancelled before so much unfolded so it definitely left viewers with blue balls

Sherlock's last episode was atrocious, it's likely not the worst ending though

Though in both cases it's not just an ending, the shows were getting worse for quite a while before conclusion.

Surprising enough, that was always the planned ending

They filmed everything with the kids in the first season, reusing shots of them looking bored would be easy, but the fact that the kids didn't age 10 years between when the story starts, and the final episode, proves that's what they had planned all along

Game of Thrones takes the top spot. True Detective Season 2 and 3 makes it there too.

I heard that LOST tv series ending was a total &hitstorm.

I literally watched the first episode of Smallville when I was a kid, and stayed with the show the entire run. Imagine my disappointment when Welling decided not to even give us one good look of himself in the suit. I'm still salty about that. And it doesn't even look like he's suiting up for the CW Crisis either.

Wow...season 3, really?

It actually wasn't bad. If you stuck with the show that long, you were probably really satisfied with the ending. From my experience, the people who hate it are usually the ones who dropped out only to come back to watch the finale, or something similar.

Anyways, the top 3 worst finales are easily:

1. Game of Thrones by a large margin
2. How I Met Your Mother
3. Dexter

The Sopranos for Sure

Season 3 ending was very disappointing. Especially for a show that seemed to build up this great ordeal of a mystery that seemed like it would be sinister in every way imaginable, but it wasn't.

I didn't add True Detective because it didn't really end but yeah both S2 and S3 are super meh. I was hoping for Too Old To Die Young to be S1's spiritual continuation but this show was... I still ask myself how the hell I was able to complete that drag. And to think Brubaker was a cocreator...

No anime/cartoon endings that was dissapointing?

Haven't seen it but heard it was pretty bad.

Tower Prep was a Cartoon Network show that came into being around the same time as destroy build destroy. The show got cancelled, unfortunately, so the ending was just a weird cliffhanger.

There should be a Best one to match this one.
