Witchblade/Darkness Confusion???

If the Witchblade is a male gauntlet and the Darkness is a male.  How the hell did they have a child in First Born?  I understand Sara Pezzini is a female which gives the ability to have a child, but still.  Male on male action between the darkness and the balance(Witchblade) is kind of awkward.  Does anyone agree with me?  If you have any explainations please tell me.  Because I'm confused.

The Darkness really got Sara pregnant not the Witchblade (that would also have been incest too lol). Hope is a product of the host of both powers having a child and since both host had the powers of the witchblade and darkness there powers combined in the child but the Darkness didn't screw the Witchblade directly anyway

Tanks for the help peeps I was just a little confused btw the Broken Trinity one-shots do they take place before or after the main Broken Trinity comic ( I'm picking up the one-shots hopefully tomorrow)
