Heath joker was great but we have no idea about the person behind the makeup.

I feel like Phoenix joker will be a better acting job because of the range factor. Heath joker was amazing but there wasn’t a long of range of emotions per se.

They're completely different Jokers.

No, because to the best of our knowledge there is no Batman for the Joker to play against. Part of what made Ledger's performance so memorable was the interplay between the two characters. We saw how they fed into each other as characters and that emotional buildup had lasting impact. That's why we're still talking about 10 or so years after the fact.

Honestly, Joker is written in so many different ways that it's hard to choose one actor as objectively the best Joker.

Ledger will be hard to top due to insanely well written conflict. Wouldn't be surprised if Phoenix tops him purely acting-wise, although Ledger did an amazing job.

Yes. In fact, I think I will like this incarnation more, because, whilst Ledger's version is absolutely brilliant and a perfect villain, he lacked a certain humanity which I would be interested to see Phoenix bring to the role. Please don't think I'm giving the writing behind Ledger's Joker flak (it's some of, if not the best writing for a villain I've ever seen), but I like the idea of humanizing Joker and seeing how an ordinary man could turn into such a monster.

I find his Joker way to creepy and unsettling, so for me no for sure for everyone else he may pull it off but it’s a small chance.

Heath was overrated but died like an idiot so he's the greatest ever apparently. It was a good performance that was overblown because of his death. Phoenix at least from the trailers seems every bit as impressive.

Comparing different portrayals of Joker are like comparing versions of Dracula.

He has been through so many very different personas that they are played different.

Ex Jack played the laughing and funny mobster type. He was amazing.

However, Ledger played the mysterious chaotic psychopath style of joker and was also amazing.

Phoenix is my laying the broken man who snaps style of Joker and it looks great so far.
