Will Joaquin Phoenix's Joker be the greatest Joker?

No clue. But if anyone has the acting chops to possibly top Ledger, it’s Joaquin

Honestly, I'm just hoping for a decent film.

With an actor as brilliant as Joaquin Phoenix, it's definitely possible.

Easy to buy into the hype, but I don't think so.

Joaquin will obviously get to give a more sympathetic and an even more varied performance than Ledger (who is IMO, the best Joker) but I don't expect the character to be nearly as well-written.

On top of that I have a feeling it won't top Ledger. Phoenix looks like he's ACTING. You can tell its acting based off of what we've seen in the trailers.

However all great performances feel as if the actor isn't even acting. It just feels like that's who he is. You cannot even tell there is Ledger in there when we saw the Joker.

I feel that he will be ON par with Nicholson but below ledger.

Depends on more than just his acting.

Better to say no and be pleasantly surprised. That's a high bar to clear. I'm sure his acting will be great, however, the writing and story have a lot to live up to.

We don't know, the movie hasn't cane out yet and we can't make assumptions as we got one trailer(Which in my opinion isn't enough to judge).

Joaquin is a fantastic actor,but we don't know it yet.

If it's my opinion, it's not even that high of a bar to surpass.

The Joker in TDK was not that great in yerms of character but Ledger made it great. If Phoenix's joker has good storyline and character he could surpass Ledger's Joker in terms of character but hard to surpass Ledger's performance.

Great actor, looks promising. And if all else fails, at least i get to hear him do his Joker laugh

Bumping this up now the film is close and there have been some reviews.

Joker needs Batman to fully embrace the character.

Maybe, remains to be seen and will always be subjective. I personally think Ledger is massively overrated
