Why Warner Bros. needs to make more Superman movies

Warner Bros. is reportedly putting all projects involving Superman "on hold" for a few years.

This is partially because of Henry Cavill's apparent exit from the DCEU. However, this the wrong decision for so many reasons. Here is why.

There's plenty of replacements out there

Just to name a few, there's Matt Bomer, Armie Hammer, Michael B. Jordan and even Supergirl's Tyler Hoechlin just to name a few. Henry Cavill was good as Superman, but let's face it: he's replaceable. It's not like we're having to replace Christopher Reeve. WB should just hire a new actor and move on.

There's so much ground to cover

Man of Steel, BvS and Justice League didn't truly use Superman to his full potential. Yes, they used two of his greatest villains, (Lex Luthor and Zod) but they've barely scratched the surface of Superman's storied history. There are so many great villains (Brainiac, Mongul, Metallo, etc.) and storylines (Reign of the Supermen, Last Son, For the Man who has Everything, etc.) to use for a great movie. And even to use him outside of main continuity, they could make great "Elseworlds" films like Red Son or Kingdom Come.

People love Superman

Everybody loves Superman. He's a cultural icon, and a new Superman movie would make Warner Bros tons of money. If Superman doesn't show up again in the DCEU, there's officially a hole that needs to be filled.

Why you need to stop making these threads that try and juggle the decisions of enormous franchises and rewrite all of live-action itself.

Just an observation. You make like, a LOT of threads. Particularly when it comes to WB/DC movies and topics. Why don’t you just make one “DCEU“ thread, or “DCEU movies” thread and then just update it with different topics you want to discuss every so often? I think doing that will prevent dup threads and less spamming the General Topics forum with same threads just different titles....

I didn’t love Cavill as Superman. He’s a little stiff. He plays the stoic parts great, but he doesn’t have that malleable charisma I’d like to see, even in a darker Superman film.

Why do some people Cavil isn’t officially done with DCEU. He literally is confirmed and is does shoots for Netflix’s Witcher series.

Yes they should make more Superman movies. However they should also give importance to other characters as well. Personally I would love to see a World's Finest movie.

To the extent that DC Films wants to match the relative success of the MCU, it won’t be in making movies that flirt with $1 billion worldwide. It’ll be in making movies based on B or C-level characters that are good enough and crowd-pleasing enough to make the DC Films versions of those characters into A-level movie stars.
