Why Jean is always depicted as weaker than Magneto?

Usually in stories, the writers depict Jean as the weaker of the two(no Pheonix). I have never understood why. Magneto can only control metal objects. Jean's TK allows her to control any object down to its molecules Stands to reason ALL matter>Metal only. Mags can create magnetic shields. Jean can create TK shields.

Mags power isnt controlling metal objects. His power source comes straight from the Electromagnetic Spectrum. He can control Electrons and protons as well. In my personal belief, the reason why this is the case is because he is experienced in using his powers which at one point Phoenix Jean admitted that she didnt feel as confident because she knew that Erik has mastered his abilities and knew not to let her guard down. Its honestly a toss up for who would win but for this certain matter, I believe that is the reason why people would put Erik above Jean.

You know the answer. So there will be a plot. You can’t have jean doing anything crazy like stopping erik’s heart because then there would be no story.

Plot reasons.

not only did OP super short change Magneto but Jean has expressed the lack of control that Erik has. She's simply not as skilled.

Erik has literally had his powers since World war 2 he is WAY more skilled & familiar wit his abilities then jean is wit her's

Full force, Magento has always been the strongest pure mutant (Phoenix Jean, Apocalypse, etc get a lot of their power from third parties).

BECAUSE SHE IS A FEMALE WHILE MAGNETO ATLEAST TILL NOW IS A MALE.

1-magnetos power is not just magnetism. He controls the electromagnetic spectrum, from gamma rays to photons to other exotic forms of energy. He can create emps, absorb lightning, use the em field of the earth and other planets to amp himself.

2-magneto has had his powers for a longer time than Jean and has a level of skill that Is hard to find anywhere. The man is in his 50s and has had powers since he was in his Early 20s Compared to Jean who got her power at age 10 had them suppressed till 16,had her telepathy suppressed till 20, then died for a while, came back and had lost her telepathy, then lost her telekinesis and had telepathy, then died again for a long time. He's had more time to master his skills.

3- mindset, Jean is someone who is always holding back, compared to Magneto who enjoys using his full power. Then Jean doesn't attack with bloodlust and is mostly defensive, while magneto is more about powerful attacks to kill his enemies.

I will disagree with that. Magneto has lots of options at killshots and unleash some devastating energy output, but he rarely actually does it. The one time in Magneto War and even then he had to withheld it till it burned him out so severely it damaged his X-gene (it was X-gene IIRC). He holds back a lot and most of the times just throws metal objects around.

Magneto has always been portrayed as team effort to take down. That is one of the reasons.

Jean is actually weaker than Magneto...

Because it would be boring if she was stronger.
