It seems like lately, the Marvel world has been sparated into two groups: 1) That which is involved with the X-Men and 2) That which is involved with everyone else. The X-Men had no part in the Civil War, Initiative, Skrull Invasion, or any other recent storylines that most everybody else was involved in. Likewise, storylines like Messiah CompleX and Divided We Stand involved the X-characters and NOBODY else.

Not to mention Emma's involvement in Dark Reign for the bettering of Mutant Kind.

Honestly I have no idea y the x-men ain't involved with anybody besides them selves.  Them teaming up with the New Avengers to beat the Dark Avengers is a book I won't resist to read.

The X-Men were involved in all of the storylines you mentioned. Part of the reason for their separation may come from the fact that they are based in San Francisco while most everyone else is based in New York.

This is a pretty good question, probably because the X-Men related material is so vast its just easier on the writers and what not to separate the two, with a few exceptions. I never really liked the fact it seemed that there was a X-Men Marvel Universe and a Marvel Universe. During Anniliation I don't believe there was ever a mention of the Shi'ar, which I thought was out of place considering it was supposed to be a galactic threat. I am glad the two are being combined for War of Kings though.

I don't think that is really it.The X-men have problems, just like everyone else. It's not like the hero community is in the clear and they have free time to help the X-men get over the hump. There is two whole Avengers teams that are fugitives of the law.The hero community and the mutants have had so many huge problems..it wouldn't make sense for either to try and crossover.

Probably cause there are only like 100 something mutants left. They are as big a deal as they used to be, and Emma Frost has got them immunity. There is no reason for them to appear along with other heroes.

Gambit, Nightcrawler and Iceman are not the most important X-Men, and an appearance on FG doesn't proove anything.

Well they aren't entirely separated from the rest of the MU, I mean look who's been getting huge (literally) guest shots in most of the latest Uncanny Issues:

And then of course some of Mutantkind's finest have recently been recruited by the Eternal known as Ikaris to help him kick his Cousin Druig's ass:

Over in X-Force, Warpath got his ass saved by Ghost Rider who helped him fight The Demon Bear:

it's because they want to be seperated...with the decimation and messiah complex they just have way to many of their own problems to deal with...they can't afford the time or energy to get involved with every one else's problems

I mainly read it for the sub-plot involving The Dreaming Celestial and Uatu the Watcher. Maybe they should just make the series be about them and put the Eternals back in comic book limbo.

A perfect example that you can see they are nearly a seperate universe. Back in the day a Celestial on Earth would have ment a stop to everything no matter if there was a Skrull Invasion or there was a Super Hero Civil War.
