This didn't use to be the case.
Why does Warner Bros. hate Superman and DC Comics in general?
WB dont hate them, why else would they still be making the movies? How can you hate making money
Superman is just a boring and bland character and that's why his movies don't do well, there's literally nothing interesting about him, from his lifestyle to his personality, he's an old fashioned character

I'd make the argument that his movies don't do very well because they don't show off who he personally is as a character (MOS was an origin and BvS was crammed full of so many other things that it barely focused on him) and because he keeps fighting the same two villains over and over again.
If you don't find Superman interesting, that's fine, you don't have to, but the character has had continuous ongoing series for years in the comics that people have been actively buying (though with obvious dips when a bad story comes along). The majority of DC readers loved Tomasi's Superman Rebirth run and people wanted more of the Superman that was in the climax of the Justice League movie. There is a place for Superman in modern media, it's just that the movies do a poor job of showing off what people like about Superman.
@aros001: every one has their own opinion

The first two superman movies are some of the best CBM ever made. That being said, it doesn't really help that superman has always been portrayed by generally unknown actors. A well known actor would be a lot better for both the box office and critical reviews.
@sabracadabra: Henry Cavill is hot property
Superman is just boring
Forbes had an article recently that AT&T(WB new Daddy) may not see much value in the DC Brand.

WB is currently too incompetent for DC, DC was always a complicated brand to deal with, but when there are incompetent people in the office, there is nothing to do than just rather hope and wait of the next generation ready to take the position and do a better job, that's the natural cycle of capitalism.
They should sell DC, but they won't because they lack character anyway, we're living times where men are too weak, risks are a typical masculine trait, but men from today are too feminine/cognitively female to take risks.

Why do you think DC is a complicated brand to deal with? AT&T isnt willing to sell off DC as their IP is still bankable but they seem reluctant to invest much into the property.

DC is complicated in our current times because of our current politics and social standards, the SJW has the complete support from Google, the neo-liberal/leftist media in general and the mindset of DC's writers are way different than Marvel's, DC is dark and it's suited for a more mature fanbase, with this, I'm not saying that DC is for intellectual people, or it's more complex, not at all, being mature doesn't mean you're smart, it has more to do with being experienced in life, DC's narrative is for more experienced people overall, you can make a damn complicated story without predominant mature patterns.
AT&C is one of the greatest evil in this world, extremely corrupt, they own CNN too, so, no wonder they're probably misleading Warner Bross in taking bad decisions within DC's administration.
PS:
If the United States experiences a civil war in the next 5-10 years, hopefully, they're going to be persecuted and massacred, AT&C is pure evilness.
@captainsweatpan: You may not like him but there’s a reason that people still buy his comics.
They don't understand the character.
The Nolan-verse (for all its good AND ills) made WB go "that's what all of our comic movies should be like!" regardless of the fact that the Nolan-tone doesn't fit everyone.
There's a very real sense that WB is much like how Fox was with the X-Men. They've got this massively popular brand but are embarrassed to make something that is too much like it. But they're also wanting the money from the movies that would be made by fans of the brand so they feel they have to make them.
@kidolio: yeah, Superman and comicbook fans (I read them too), movies need more than fans to succeed, they also need the general public and to the general public Superman is rather boring
What makes you think that WB hates Superman.
They obviously made alot of money out of this character and will make more in the future.
DC darker than Marvel?
Shheeesh.
Marvel had its 'Attidude Era' decades before Stone Cold brought it to wrestling.
Batman, sure.
Superman? His whole schtick is 'hope'.
Superman 2 still holds up as one of the best (if not the best) because it wasn't about big action sequences and how the characters could be ground into the dirt, but about how he picked himself up again after.
@the_agent_of_chaos: Thanks, probably the only time anyone has called me Marvel sided and DC hater. WB simply didn't ruin those movies like they ruined Zack Snyder and DCEU, good for them. I still hate them for what they did to my boy, Zack.
@the_agent_of_chaos: Hell nah, from what I see, the best DCEU movies to this date are Man of Steel and BvS which are made by Zack Snyder. They screwed him over.

It's because DC can't be himself, constantly blackmailed, being held hostage by the neo-liberal and the leftist media, like in a socialist and communist-ruled nation, DC doesn't feel natural anymore, they have their shot sometimes, but it's very rare, they want DC to be more like Marvel, they want to force equity.
PS:
Not even Marvel is Marvel anymore too, whether Marvel or DC, both brands are being constantly restricted, their creativity is being restricted based on politically correct persecution and harassment. Creativity is one of the most valuable things humanity has to offer and it's being killed and eradicated. Creativity comes in different shapes, sizes and colors, it's a factual thing we must accept.
They stay making terrible business decisions, and its just going to keep getting worse & worse for them until they decide to square up and do what would benefit them financially and be favorable by the majority once more, Restore The Snyderverse. They're only hurting themselves, either they lack self awareness or are a glutton for punishment.
Superman has the 2nd most live acton movies, animated movies, comics, tv shows behind Batman...
70% of DC rooster haven't had a single ongoing comic since the 90s and hv little to no outside media exposure.
Superman fans are like middle class white kids complaining about their struggles to kids who grew up in estates.
Saying they hate Superman/DC Comics is ...well,..odd. Especially considering we are talking about a character and property that has banked them hundreds and hundreds of millions of dollars over the many decades. Do they sometimes, or maybe even more recently often times, don’t really know how to handle the character/property from a creative standpoint? Absolutely.
You can be incompetent in the handling or management of a thing, but that doesn’t mean you hate it.
If Superman made some money like Batman and other superheros, WB may like him.
For that he have to stop being a mary sue
