So many numbers so why is the main marvel universe 616?

Anyone else think it's weird that the main marvel universe is the number if the beast? Aka satan

@black_wreath: A lot of people also think 616 is a mistranslation or was written down wrong. You can't conclusively say its one or the other given that its written as both and far more as 666 than 616. Not that it makes much difference to me but its really w/e you want it to be both in terms of the number and what the number means to you.

Also this question isnt specific to anyone but do you know when it was named 616?

It's just that the new translation of the number of the beast was "apparently" early noughties so it's possible that the 616 universe predates the new translation which makes it even weirder

It means nothing more than a factoid to me, I recognise 666 is more iconic and I'm not about to demand Iron Maiden change the lyrics to Number of the Beast.
