Who's your favorite NON Superhero comic book character, and why?

(So from comics that are not in the Superhero genre).

No Caption Provided

For me, probably this guy (Corto Maltese) because chilhood (there was a huge portrait of him in the living room in the house where I grew up, as my father is also a fan), also he is super charismatic, and the stories are unique.

Even though I have not read a Corto Maltese book in forever I'm still very attached to the character.

A very very close second choice would be Moebius's StarWatcher, as is probably obvious, but she doesn't take first place due to lack of content concerning her.

Non superhero? You mean a super villain? Or just a character that is not super powered?

Too vague.

If you mean what I think you mean, then Master Chief is mine.

@imaloserforbeinghere: How is it too vague, from any comic that isn't in the Superhero genre. I mean... I don't see where the confusion is.

@mad_titan: I mean characters not from superhero genre comic books.

@deadgod: Well, there are a lot of Superhero characters to like too, hahaha! Yes it is hard to choose. I'm not familiar with some of the ones you mentionned but I also love Tintin. Your choices have given me great comics to discover so thanks!

@cap10nate: I'm not familiar with her, I'll have to check this out! She reminds me of Rogue haha.

@starwatcher: It's a really good spy story by Brubaker and Epting. I've been a big fan of it since it came out.

@starwatcher: Jesse Custer is from Vertigo's Preacher. Dashiell Bad Horse is also from Vertigo's Scalped. Jimmy Corrigan is from a critically acclaimed 2000 comic. Charlie Brown is from Peanuts comic books & strips. Ed the Happy Clown is from an offensive but award winning comic Yummy Fur. Buddy Bradley is from Neat Stuff comic is considered to be archetype of 90s underground culture. Uncle Scrooge & Popeye are part of my childhood cartoons & also they had nice comics.

And I love Tintin too, he's awesome! :D

Vladek Speigelman, Yorick Brown, Deogratias, Obelix. (PS, No-one who isn't a Caucasian would nominate Tintin)

Good picks both of you.

Jimmy Corrigan is from Acme Novelty Library, though.

Lazarus isn't my favorite comic, but it's the only non-superhero comic I love with focus only one character.

My favorite non-superhero character is Hellboy. Here are some other great characters...

  • Abe Sapien
  • Lord Baltimore
  • The Goon
  • Franky
  • Blacksad
  • Lady Mechanika
  • Trench
  • Hip Flask
  • Rick Grimes
  • Carl Grimes
  • Andrea
  • Snake-Eyes
  • Storm Shadow
  • The Rocketeer - Some might consider him a "superhero". I don't personally and he's certainly worth mentioning.

Conan, Kull, Red Sonja of the barbarian genre.

I've read some semi serious Jughead comics that were pretty cool.

It's a shame... Lucky Luke and Asterix issues are quite hard to get hold of nowadays...
