Poll Who is the better character: Superman or Daredevil? (38 votes)

Superman 45%
Daredevil 55%

My opinion on this depends on my mood, it's Superman when I feel like reading about someone hopeful, positive, optimistic and compassionate; Daredevil when I feel like reading about someone with the tenacity to endure through pain and trauma.

If we're talking writing quality, then Matt by a landslide.

In terms of personality, stories and charm probably Daredevil.

Love both though.

@tommythehitman: I agree, Daredevil is so well-written. I love Superman but the simplicity of him being so moral, so selfless, so tenacious and so incorruptible that he would sacrifice himself to stop Doomsday, that he would fight monsters for 1,000 years and never kill one, that he could never be tempted to betray his moral code even a little bit... it gets annoying, there's no complex writing to his character, he's the same in every situation. He has a big heart, I like that... but yeah, the writing of his character is so cheap sometimes.

Clark. Despite it being cool to say he's basic and practically any street level character is more interesting

Which versions are we talking?

MCU Daredevil>>>>>>>>>>>DCEU Superman, in terms of his writing.

For the comics maybe Superman...I really don't know.

@joker567892: Comic versions, I think you generally assume that users are talking about the comic iterations unless noted on here.

@ghostodoofus2: Definitely. Superman’s had amazing stories, but Daredevil just overwhelms him completely in terms of consistency.

... Did you not read the epilogue of Geoff Johns and & Gary Frank's "Brainiac" arc?

@life_without_progress: Ohhh yeeeeaaahhh, he imagined himself killing Brainiac in his cell. Yeah I remember now, but that's only because Brainiac killed his Pa and ordinarily something like that doesn't happen, Geoff Johns is a special writer though. It's rare for Superman to think about killing someone, he was tempted to kill Brainiac and to kill Manchester Black in Ending Battle (also partly written by Johns, underrated as hell).

But in general, he's almost perfectly pure of heart and the simplicity of writing him with such benevolence isn't enough for me. I love the character but the writing for him is sometimes too simple.

Too few writers know how to properly handle Superman.

Daredevil
