Who is at fault for the breakdown in negotiations between Sony and Disney?

Seeing as both spiderman movies were actually made by Sony/ Columbia, I'm guessing it was Disney just asking for more money just to be involved

I tend to blame the side that pulled a Darth Vader and changed the existing deal rather than the side that decided the new deal they never agreed to was too much and decided to leave.

Disney. Asking 50% of Box Office is just scummy! There is no way Sony can afford to lose that much money plus Disney get all the merchandise money which is more than Box Office.

Anyway, Disney was pretty stupid trying to make a character that they don't have rights next Ironman. On the Downside, Sony will struggle to make sequel with Ironboy without MCU.Disney really did an incredible tying up Spiderman into MCU.

From my understanding of the issue. Disney. Sony seems to have wanted to continue the relationship just not change it.

So what does this really mean? How disconnected is this going to make on going spider-man films from the rest of the MCU? Are they just never going to mention these events/characters again?

Disney wanted 500 millions dollars for free. Disney wanted 50% of the profits from a new contract.

People are acting like Disney wanted 50% of the profits and leaving it at that. No, they wanted 50% of the profits under the condition that they’d help finance 50% of the production. I’m not seeing how that’s greedy, if they wanted to just take 50% of the profits and still expect Sony to leg up all the costs for production, then there’d be a leg to stand on. If anything, it seemed like they purposely started off high

On the other hand

Sony do have the right to do what they just did, since they still own the film rights. I would’ve just negotiated more to shorten the split and probably receive more of a cut from Spider-Man’s other MCU appearances outside of solo films, along with other conditions but that’s just me

Either way, negotiations are probably still under way tbh so we’ll see how things go

It's Disney. I've defended them multiple times in the past, but this is on them. Not to say Sony is entirely blameless here, but they were willing to continue the contract for a third movie business as usual and Disney is the one who got greedy and rocked the boat. 50% for a franchise they don't even own? Who would ever agree to something like that?

I've already said it but I'll say it again. It's clearly Disney, you're free to have your opinion but if you can still say it was 100 percent on Sony after hearing Sony offered a 70/30 deal and Disney was the one that didn't budge on their ridiculous amount. I'm not sure what to tell you

Pretty sure they were just participating in low effort humor. Actual anti-antisemitism implies hostility or prejudice against them. That's one problem with our society today. Suggesting a joke like that actively makes people racist causes people to actually become racist when they feel like they have nothing left to lose by going farther.
